Prince George, B.C.- The Members of the Legislative Assembly will be sworn in today. The Liberals will start their ceremony at noon, while the New Democrats will have theirs at 2:00.
The time for the swearing in of the one independent (Vicki Huntington) has not been specified.
There has been no word on when the Premier might name his Cabinet. Two Prince George M.L.A.’s are expected to hold posts, however there have been some new additions to the Liberal fold so there is no guarantee both will be back in Cabinet.
Shirley Bond, MLA for Prince George- Valemount has most recently been Deputy Premier, and Minister of Education, while Pat Bell, MLA  for Prince George- Mackenzie was in the post of Forests and Range.
There is an opening for Attorney General as Wally Oppal was defeated.
The economy remains a major concern, so it remains to be seen if that post will continue to be held by Colin Hansen.
The Premier may want to shift the responsibilities of Solicitor General away from Rich Coleman who took on the added duties when John Van Dongen stepped down over the speeding ticket issue.
When the Premier will make his Cabinet selection is entirely up to the Premier, it could come in days, or weeks.

Democracy shouldn't be a cabinet of one mans choice... one man who was not on 99% of British Columbians ballot.
So we will change the system to one which the USA uses. We could then have a premier from one party and the majority in the house from another party. And the premier still making the decision as to who his/her advisors will be, the same as is the case of the US President.

I would love to be the person at whose desk the buck stops and have advisors who are chosen by others. Great system that would be.
The democracy we have, and in general the one most "democratic" countries have is a representative government. We elect those represent us. Those who represent us choose how they wish to organize themselves.

Even simple "democratic" organizations such as Societiers do that. The members select the members of the Board. The Board decides who the Chair or President is going to be and who the officers will be and which committess they will set up and what they will do.

It is the way it works. If you have a better system, then define it and start a movement to change it.
"I swear to follow criminal Campbell's orders without question, not think for myself or I shall get the same treatment as Paul Nettleton!"
No ruling party MLA stepped out of line when Harcourt, Clark,. Miller or Ujjal Dosangh where running the show.

Not even one. Nothing has changed. Why would it?

So this is the day they could all swear.

Nice!!!!!

Would've like to have heard who swore the best.
