Quesnel River Rising

Quesnel, B.C. – There is a high stream flow advisory in effect for the Quesnel River.
 
The water level on the Quesnel River at Likely and Quesnel has been rising steadily, at about 5 cm/day, over the past few days, due to snowmelt from sustained hot weather.
 
The current discharge for the Quesnel River at Quesnel is near a 3-4 year return period level. Flows at upper tributary basins are maintaining, and the water level at Quesnel Lake continues to increase (slowly).
 
Continued warm weather is forecast for the basin today, with further warming to near 26 degrees by Wednesday.
 
The water level on the Quesnel River is expected to continue a very slow rise today.  Localized flooding may occur along portions of the river valley.

Quesnel Lake is one of BC's best kept secrets. Its one of the deepest lakes in the world and I think has more volume than any other lake in the province other than possibly Atlin Lake up north?
