The Newly-Elected Board of Trustees will tackle the task of replacing Dick Chambers

While School District 57 Superintendent Dick Chambers has said he would like to vacate his post as soon as possible, he's also said he'd be willing to stay to the end of the school year and he may have to...

Chambers announced his plans to step down early in September, saying he'd met his personal goal of a five-year commitment to the job.

But the Board of Trustees has decided to leave the hiring of Chamber's replacement up to the newly-elected Board, set to be sworn in next Tuesday evening.

In addition, Chair of the Hiring Committee, Trustee Lyn Hall, says the job ad will be re-posted in the hopes of soliciting more applicants.  Hall says seven applications were received during the first "call", although he won't offer up any further details.  And he says there's a feeling that because the closing date fell just before the municipal elections, some interested individuals may have been awaiting the results of the November 19th vote.

Hall says the committee plans to re-post the ad sometime next week with a closing date set for early January and then the new board will get down to the business of short-listing and interviewing candidates.  Hall says the group had originallly hoped for a pool of 14 applicants from which to choose Chamber's successor.
