This seems like a demotion for Shirley Bond, but it is a bit hard to say since there isn't any deputy premier.
Colin Hansen is also the Deputy Premier.
Actually If you look Closer you will see that Colin Hansen is Deputy Premier Plus Finance. Well maybe we'll get better attention to education now...but I doubt it
Ah, right. I missed that. So it is a demotion for Shirley Bond, eh?
yay, she deserved the demotion! She did not and probably still will not care about us! Hopefully this shakeup will help us.....
Maybe Shirley will get the Cariboo CONnector fast tracked...or probably NOT.
Who cares about education? Everybody does nothing but complain about how their little Jonny needs more of everything. Infrastructure is like 1000x more important. Little Jonny has bad grades because he's a screwup. And his parents are screwups too.
Demotion? Did anyone here ever consider that those who get assigned to ministries might have something to do with making the final decision? Did anyone ever consider that those who have done good work might be rewarded with a ministry that they might prefer?

As gamblor suggested, education is not the easiest ministry to handle, especially from a region that is not growing and has school closures.

It is interesting that a new MLA was given that post. Baptism by fire to be sure.
I dont know about you guys but i dont want un educated little jonny building bridges that i have to drive over and trust my life to. The govt can be doing more to stimulate education so the option is there for everyone to take advantage of.
Shirley Bond is a dedicated and very hard working ,passionated person who cares deeply about this Province.

Some folks just like to complain about everything.

She got that post because she can and will do a good job.

You may not like Premier but he is one sharp cookie. He knows who he can count on to get the job done.
The last time we had a women for the Minister of Highways was Lois Boone. As I recall we got absolutley nothing during the time she was Minister. All the shots were called by Glen Clark and the boys, and the money was spent on the Island Highway.

Now that the election is over the work on the Highways will begin to die down. It will begin to pick up again about three years from now, when we start to get into another election. Dont expect to much from Shirley Bond.

The Government is broke. Layoffs will become the order or the day, and of course we will have the Olympics staring us in the face.
Big difference between Shirley Bond and Lois Boone...Shirley gets things done.
Hopefully now that Pat has been re-instated at his post plus the economic picture and employment stats will pick up. Congratulations to all three of our local ministers for our premier's vote of confidence in you!!
Yes, Campbell and his crew have the goal to reduce the public service in BC to 57 percent of what it is today. The public service is or was (nearly non-existent in most small rural communities these days) part of the infrastructure in our communities. Valuing the education of our children is our only hope for the future. Bashing education and public infrastructure (from roads to health services) in our communities has been an armchair sport for the greedy across this country. Those who would argue against the importance of services and education are just in it for themselves - profiteers and/or nihilists.
It doesn't matter if Little Johnny is a screw up, it doesn't matter if little Johnny's parents were a load of crap!! It matters that our Governments are a load of crap! They hardly deserve a capital "G" the thugs! We need to rebel, we need to REBEL NOW!! Canada is a poor example of democracy!
If you move into a lower position, it's a demotion, even if it isn't intended as a punishment. Someone who was Deputy Premier and is no longer has moved down a bit in the hierarchy. It is possible that Shirley Bond wanted this: perhaps she felt overworked or didn't want so much stress.
