Prince George, B.C. - The Air Quality Advisory will remain in effect for at least two and half more hours.

The Ministry of Environment in collaboration with Northern Health, is continuing the Air Quality Advisory for Prince George due to high levels of coarse particulate matter (PM10).

Based on the air quality data, the high levels are mainly due to dust with some contribution for combustion emissions (smoke) late yesterday morning. Even though the 24 hour PM10 rolling average is below the provincial objective, high hourly values are expected this morning. There is a chance of showers or thunderstorms this afternoon which should help improve the air quality. The 24 hour PM10 rolling average was 38 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site at 4:00 pm, 44 µg/m3 at BCR and 23 µg/m3 at College Heights. The 24 hour PM2.5 rolling average was 14 µg/m3 at the Plaza 400 downtown site.

This Air Quality Advisory is expected to be in effect for the next few hours, with an update to be provided this morning at 11:30 am.
