Prince George, B.C.- The BC Real Estate Association is reporting good news in multiple listing sales of homes, saying there was a 2.8% increase in sales compared to May of 2008. It was the first year over year increase since December 2007. It was also the fourth consecutive month of rising home sales.
In the Prince George region, which is covered by the BC Northern Real Estate Board, May 2009 saw a 5.6% increase in the average price of a home to $225,530, while the number of listings rose only 2.2% compared to May of last year.
While the Provincial scenario ended up with a 2.8 % gain on the number of units sold in May of this year compared to May of ’08, such was not the case in the Prince George region which saw 22.3 % fewer sales in May of ’09.
Chilliwack recorded a 9.6% in sales, Greater Vancouver was up 16.4%, the South Okanagan saw a 25.4% increase, and Victoria was up by 13.6%.
