Twenty one year old Dillon Adey died when his 2006 Suzuki 750 ran into the back end of an SUV on Tabor Boulevard.
Dillon’s father, Perry, is asking the community to make a donation in Dillon’s memory to the fund which is almost at $6,000.
Perry Adey also plans to lobby the provincial government to form the Dillon Adey law, which would require more mandatory training before people are allowed to get a licence to operate a motorcycle. “Right now they only need limited training, if they already have a driver’s licence, to operate a motorcycle.”
He sys his son was a young man with an old soul who liked learning and improving his own life. He had his first job when he was 14 and hoped to open his own business. He was an avid snowboarder and golfer, who liked to ride ATVs and work out with his friends at the gym.
The community is rallying around the family, having already raised $6,000 towards the goal of at least $10,000. Several fundraisers have also been planned from now until the end of October; the Tabor Arms Pub is holding a Corona night every Saturday night, with some of the proceeds going towards Dillon’s bursary.
On July 6, Pepper Tree Hair Studio staff -- Nichole, Melissa and Kristen -- are donating all proceeds that day for Dillon’s bursary. Appointments are required and can be made at 250-563-6331.
In early June, 2010, there will be a four-ball scramble golf tournament.
