Prince George, B.C.- The family of the young man who died in a motorcycle crash June 1st has created an endowment bursary in the name of the former CNC student.

Twenty one year old Dillon Adey died when his 2006 Suzuki 750 ran into the back end of an SUV on Tabor Boulevard.

Dillon’s father, Perry, is asking the community to make a donation in Dillon’s memory to the fund which is almost at $6,000.

Perry Adey also plans to lobby the provincial government to form the Dillon Adey law, which would require more mandatory training before people are allowed to get a licence to operate a motorcycle. “Right now they only need limited training, if they already have a driver’s licence, to operate a motorcycle.”

He sys his son was a young man with an old soul who liked learning and improving his own life. He had his first job when he was 14 and hoped to open his own business. He was an avid snowboarder and golfer, who liked to ride ATVs and work out with his friends at the gym.

The community is rallying around the family, having already raised $6,000 towards the goal of at least $10,000.  Several fundraisers have also been planned from now until the end of October; the Tabor Arms Pub is holding a Corona night every Saturday night, with some of the proceeds going towards Dillon’s bursary.

On July 6, Pepper Tree Hair Studio staff -- Nichole, Melissa and Kristen -- are donating all proceeds that day for Dillon’s bursary. Appointments are required and can be made at 250-563-6331.

In early June, 2010, there will be a four-ball scramble golf tournament.

Sorry, wrong click. ANyways to add to the above, mandatory safety course should be taken prior to even being granted a learner's license.
these motorcycle companies are selling lethal products...why is it that my car's (which is safer) speed limit is governed at 155kms, yet a motorcycle has none...there needs to be limits put on these machines
WHATS THE POINT OF "COMMENTS" IF THERE IS SO MUCH CENSORSHIP....
It doesn't matter how much training you get before being allowed to ride/drive, it matters how you use the privilege once you have it. I have lost family members in this way and it wasn't due to lack of training. We can blame the government for a lot of things but I don't think we can hang this one on them. The speed LIMIT in town is 50km not 140km, everyone knows that. The choice to speed is made by every individual.

As for the Tabor Arms having a Carona night to raise money, this just sounds like "let's drink a bunch of beers, it's for a good cause, oops, who's driving?" Are they going to supply the cab fare too?
Simply put, if you don’t like the call by Opinion250, towards racist and insensitive remarks, and you don’t like the removal of your comments, then don’t comment.
Commenting is not your right it is a privilege and we will cut privileges if that is what it takes to create fair comment.
a simple error in judgement, and one looses everything.
I agree, but not with meisner. Quite the little autocracy in removing comments he feels are insensitive. I would say bigdog has the correct perspective only that the speed he quoted is lower. I know that when one's speed on these machines increases, the ability to control the machine is greatly reduced.
he didnt say anything insensitve...he stated the facts as he knew them. not to far off...thats the news biz. how often is the media insensitive?
Sorry for the lose of a young man just beginning his life. Sad, but his decisions to do something extremely irresponsible has ended with devastating consequences. Nobody else is to blame. We all have choices.
OK all sentiment aside here...Yet another call for more regulation and training? If there was enough training required before this mans death then why is there not enough after? Does the accident report suggest that the rider was lacking training which resulted in this mishap? If not then please no more memorial laws! It isnt necessarily a good thing to have emotion swaying public opinion and policy. We need to make laws and regulations in a logical, not sensitive manner.
Ya Ben did you not get cut off from your Jim Pattison talk show because YOU spoke your mind? Now you don't want anyone else to!!
There's a very simple saying on forums when you disagree with the moderators. If you don't like the way it's run go start your own site. The reason comments get moderated is because people that are supposed to be adults post things that wouldn't get posted if you had to put your real name beside it.
I am sorry for the loss of such a young life. I'm sure he was a nice kid and just made a big mistake.

However,

I am happy he didn't hit my wife or kids. I am happy he didn't take someone with him who was not involved in his very risky and reckless behavior.

The actions which caused his death were negligent, reckless, wanton disregard for anybody else in the area or on the road.

A memorial law for someone like that, are you kidding me ?

Beer night to raise funds for a bursary...are we trying to turn this into a double-play or a hat trick ?

I think the bursary is a nice idea, but maybe people should just stop and grieve and think things out better at a later date.
I agree with Ben. Comments are a priviledge. And sometimes we post comments that are not appropriate. Ben and Elaine are well within their rights to monitor this website and keep us in line.
On this website we don't have to identify ourselves except with a pseunonym. How convenient is that for someone to post whatever comments they want without their true identity being revealed?
Perhaps we should come out from hiding and identify ourselves like we would if we were writing into the newspaper?! I wouldn't have a problem doing this.
Perhaps you wouldnt rainbow, but i would. More to the point, this comment forum would die. People who can post anonymously can post honestly, without fear of consequences. Sometimes this is bad, most times it is good. Arent you all tired of hearing only whats acceptable and safe?
I note that most people who have come on here and posted their names almost NEVER post, or tend to only post agreeable sensitive posts. If that is what people want from 250 then why woull they even have logged on to this site, so closely associated with someone who was well know for being outspoken?
Pay me like Ben was paid and i will post opinions, comments and articles under my own name. Otherwise I prefer to have the righteous unable to track me down and harangue me every time i post something they object to. If you think harassment of such kind would not happen you are being naive. Period.
Racism is never acceptable.
You do have a point Caranmacil about Opinion 250 forum taking a plunge if we were required to identify ourselves. Sad but true!
Over the years I have published numerous articles and reports with my name attached to it. Some of it I wasn't paid for but I stood up to what I believed to be the truth. As far as being harrassed this was never an issue. As long as I was respectful and stated the facts I didn't have to worry about it. And I'm not being naive about this. If you're not acting like a jerk, people tend to leave you alone. Common sense, not rocket science.
I've stood alone many times because of my opinions. Hiding behind a pseudonym (spelled correctly this time)is not something I'm willing to continue...out of principle. This has been another great lesson for me. Thank you!
Racism is not acceptable if you are white. Otherwise, it's fine. Racism is not acceptable in the western world. Otherwise, it's fine. The majority of the worlds population is ok with racism but 30 million of us think it's taboo. I have no problem with chinaman lake, squaw lake, scotchmans lake, or anything named after a race. It is not racism to me. I was called a 'bohunk' when I was a kid and it never bothered me; it still doesn't. Rise above your pride and smile. Why is everyone trying to be so damn loving when they don't even believe in a GOD?
Hey people, this section of the forum is about Dillon Adey, not your outrage over censorship of comments you make. O-250 is a free service, not one of your 'rights'
But while it is a noble and respectful gesture to establish a bursary in the name of the deceased, petioning the government for increased regulation in our lives is not. Mr. Adey; would Dillon have approved of more regulation in rider training?
The freedom that most of us enjoy is being eroded on a daily basis. I say if you are going to pass a new law, make common sense one of them.
metalman.
The information I am hearing from those close to the accident investigation are not consistent with some of the allegations by people who are posting here and not even consistent with the notion that this person was an inexperienced rider.
I don't get it, more mandatory training? It was my understanding that speed was a factor. Will this proposed new law include how to read signage and stay within the speed limit? I really do not see how this will help anything. Once someone has their liscence, car or motorcycle, if they don't follow the rules of the road, unfortunatley, accidents will happen.
"He was an avid snowboarder and golfer, who liked to ride ATVs and work out with his friends at the gym."

So he was experienced and athletic and obviously spoiled because he was gifted all those toys all his life.

Adey junior was holding the throttle and the steering.

Mr P. Adey is now passing the buck onto government because he failed to provide adequate parenting which would have discouraged his progeny from being so reckless on a public roadway on another toy that he had provided or at least enabled.

Rainbow, you are on shakey ground when you extrapolate your experiences to others. I seem to remember being insulted and roundly abused while others were actually threatened with violence when we spoke up on the issue of trophy hunting. I can assure you i was very respectful and stated only facts.
More to the point, millions of people have been and are persecuted for stating their opinions in a respectful manner. To suggest otherwise is to fly in the face of history and current events. Try stating your respectful facts on a controversial topic, against the general consensus and you might find some people may not leave you alone.
Please dont imply i am stupid ('common sense, not rocket science') just because your experiences do not agree with my own (or the many people who have, throughout history found that respectfulness and civility are not always reciprocated).
Loki, in my opinion, you are being rather callous, and are making assumptions based on what you hear and read.

Mantracker sets out towards the flare, trying to ascertain what trail the prey took that led them so far off the topic of conversation.

Sorry, was this story about racism, censorship, or hurt feelings ??
