The votes have been counted, and its confirmed, the Prince George Golf and Curling Club will be sold to Pomeroy Group of Alberta for a total of $15 million dollars.

There were 393 votes cast, and 359 were in favour of the move. There needed to be 75% approval in order to sell, tonight's vote was 91.3$ in favour.

The existing course has been badly ravaged by the mountain pine beetle.  Trying to rehabilitate the course would cost just under $4 million dollars and the the golf course already has a debt of about $1 million. Repairing and maintenance of the current course would mean a boost in membership fees.

The Golf Course is said to be looking at three different  possible sites for relocation.

I hope one of the locations is in the Cayman Islands. Year round golfing for people from all over Canada would be the way to go.

Maybe BC can buy it from the Brits and annex it as part of the Province for those living in the north and creating much of the wealth for this province.
Neat coincidence that the land they got for free from the taxpayer was sold for exactly what it costs to build their new course.

I wonder if they factored in the fact the membership fees would not be changed and even go up, yet on the other hand you have 2 months less for golfing in that part of the hart at a higher elevation and in the shade.
Luckily I am not old enough yet to play golf ....

However, I think we are becoming a City of blacktop surrounded by green ......
I wonder how many of our city's citizens actually use the PG Golf & Curling facility?

When we look at best use of our limited land, one has to evaluate cost per use per member to justify the cost and to determine value of the property.

$15,000,000? Nice Price. So, who should be entitled to this money? Should the selective members of the golf course receive all of it?
How many members are there anyway?

Does any of it belong to the city?

Who owned the land before the Golf Club began to use it? Did they buy it, or did they lease it?

Who decides on all of the plans for developing this property?

Do our city fathers have any input into the development? They should, but did the purchasers already get permission for their development plans from our city fathers prior to the purchase?

This piece of property is one of the most valuable in our city.

What financial benefit is the city going to receive from this deal?

I know that I don't know much about the details for this piece of property, but I would love to know who really does? Chester
