Prince George, B.C.- The cooler temperatures have come as a relief to forest firefighters across the province.
The cooler temperatures have also come as a relief to the Minister of Forests and Range, Pat Bell, who says the fires so far this season have already burned up half the planned budget and the worst of the fire season is yet to come “While I do have Statutory Authority to spend what I need it's still looking like an expensive year.”
So far, there have been 798 fires this season, that includes 9 new fires detected Friday of which 3 were sparked by lightning and 6 were caused by human activity.
The fires this season have burned 38.9 thousand hectares.
