Prince George, B.C.- With about 6 weeks to go, the Prince George Service Canada Centre for Youth (SCCY) is still hoping to meet it’s goal of filling 450 jobs.

It will be a tough task as the Centre has filled 95 summer job vacancies over the past month and a half. That is less than 25% of the goal reached over one half of the time the centre will be open.  Last year at this time the centre had filled 204 jobs of which 119 were casual labour positions.

“This is the perfect time for employers and homeowners to hire young people,” says Kyle Flannagan, Youth Service Officer. “Young people are still available for full-time and part-time positions, as well as odd jobs around the home or business.”

So far, the Centre has helped 328 young people improve their job search skills.

The Prince George Youth Centre closes on the 14th of August.

People are buying into the 'big depression' bull so much that they are hiding in their houses, scared to hire a few people to get on with business as usual. With 1300 buck worth of home reno tax breaks one would think it was the right time to hire a couple of kids.
