Dawson Creek, B.C.- A leak of natural gas  from an EnCana  pipeline  in Pouce Coupe was the result of an explosion.

That is the preliminary finding of the RCMP Integrated National Security Enforcement Team's examination of the ruptured line.

EnCana is continuing to work on stabilizing and sealing the well head at the site today so  a full forensic and post blast examination can be safely conducted, stated Cpl Dan Moskaluk.

There is no immediate or imminent danger to the public as a result of the gas leak at the site with a wide area of containment and security in place with EnCana and RCMP resources.

This blast is considered the fifth in a series of criminally motivated acts that have occurred at EnCana sites in North Eastern B.C. spanning 2008 and into 2009.

Anyone with information on this incident or previous explosions,  is asked to contact the dedicated tip line at 1-866-994-7473, local police services, the Dawson Creek RCMP at 250-784-3700 or Crimestoppers 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) or go to www.dawsoncreekbombings.com.

This is natural gas, not gasoline. The price of natural gas has actually been on the decline.
