The Cariboo-Prince George Riding Association President for the Liberals says he had been hoping to announce the party's candidate for the January 23rd election this weekend.

But Dave Wilbur says, unfortunately, that's not the case.  "We are in the process of choosing a candidate," he says, "There are a number of names that have come forward, (but) we have not concluded that process."

Wilbur says at this time he can't release the names of those who've expressed an interest in running for the party, but hopes to be in a position to announce the sucessful candidate by Wednesday.

When asked whether that candidate will likely run a two-phase campaign -- before and after the holidays -- Wilbur says, "I would hope that's what evolves for the candidate's sake and for all the candidates' sakes, but my suspicion is that it will likely be a very shortened Christmas break for anyone that's involved."

The way the government of Canada works, it doesn't matter who they pick. They can get elected and immediately join the the other party and become a minister (Stronach). What kind of insanity is going on? Who calls this a democracy? What's the use of voting?? Why not let the present government simply choose who they would prefer to fill all the positions. That way there would be no election spending. When the people start bitching about something they could change the name of their party to something catchy like 'reborn reform' or 'democratic insanity' or 'lunatic leadership'. In my humble opinion, Harper is the last chance for any real change in Canadian government. (I do emphasize 'chance'. He might become a royal anal passage same as Lyin' Brian. Skeptisism kicking in again.)

Why Harper started off his campaign off with the gay marriage thing ?
Smart move-- How many votes will he get one way or the other? Go after a majority rather than a minority. There are probably twenty christian churches in PG. There are many more true christians who vote, than there are gays. Do the math.
