Letter Threatens More Blasts

Dawson Creek, British Columbia – In an escalation of recent events RCMP investigators are confirming receipt of a second letter in relation to the recent attacks of domestic terrorism on oil and gas infrastructure in the Dawson Creek area.

The letter, which was received by the Dawson Creek Daily News yesterday, reiterates a demand that oil and gas operations cease in the area.

“From an investigative standpoint the contents of the letter continue with the disturbing and dangerous actions that have occurred over the past year,” says Sgt Tim Shields, RCMP Media Relations Officer. “Many local residents could consider this letter to be a form of blackmail. Blackmail against industry and the residents living in the area who are directly threatened each time an explosion occurs.”

The latest letter outlines a timetable for oil and gas activities to cease, and calls the previous six explosions “minor and fully controlled”.

“Any act that directly threatens the lives of people living and working in the area is not minor. Make no mistake, the explosions that have occurred were extremely violent in nature and it is very dangerous to the local community. We have been very fortunate that nobody has been hurt or killed and our ultimate goal is to ensure the safety of our local residents and oil and gas workers,” explains Sgt Shields.

RCMP investigators from INSET – the Integrated National Security Enforcement Team -are continuing to follow-up on recent tips from the community and are asking anyone with additional information to forward it to police.

“We know that the actions of whoever is responsible are not supported by the community and residents in the area. There are processes in place to voice concerns and violence is simply not acceptable, in any circumstance. If people do have information regarding these attacks it is important to forward it to the proper authorities before something occurs that can’t be undone. None if this is worth harming another individual,” says Sgt Shields.

People with information regarding the attacks, or the letters are asked to contact their local police department, CrimeStoppers, or to call the dedicated tip line at 1-866-994-7473.

The message from the bomber is clear. He/She is saying that with the down grades for RCMP applicants, the RCMP will not figure who is doing this. The RCMP will need someone to tell them. And if they get information, it will spin in the court systems for years, while the lawyers get rich.

seems to me that this clown lives in the toms lake or kelly lake area according to the letter,surely there isn't that big a population there that he/she can't be caught.

Think about it folks.
Locally we have the PAC that many contributors oppose. I know a PAC is not the same as a gas pipeline, but there is opposition to the project. What if they wanted to build it in the lot beside you regardless of your objections. You and your neighbors would be quit upset and would do what ever you could to prevent or hinder its completion.

Now what if it was a pipeline that goes through your home(land) and not only you, but also many in your community object to it for what ever reason, whether environmental, financial compensation, or simply feeling that some mega corp with government support government support installed that in your area any way.
Your objections are not just heard, but flat out ignored.

Pop quiz: What do you do? What do you do?

I do not support these violent actions. I can understand though.

You grow up and realize that you can't have the entire world just your own way, no matter how hard you want it.

You realize that other people have needs too and those needs may conflict with yours at any given point in time.

Just because you object strongly, doesn't mean you carry the master Veto, whether the project goes ahead or not.

You may just have to suck it up.

Yeah right. If anyone thinks that Encana is going to back down due to the actions and threats of this clown, they are mistaken. Maybe it's a matter of time before some innocent people get hurt, and how much 'understanding' of this fool's actions will be sympathized with then?

...I don't think anybody on the investigational side of this is going to be taking any time off. Now that he's squirming, they are going to increase the pressure and drive him out of his own skin.

So what I am hearing you say is that it is ok for mega corp to run rough shod over any one just because the victim/subject/terrorist do not have the resources to fight for what they believe to be right?

What I am also hearing said is that it is ok for mega corp to do as they please, dam the locals? Sort of like Canfor logging your property whether you want to or not and they don't pay you for it.

The target is specifically encana. No one has been hurt, yet, because it was intended that way. The perpetrators know they will lose any possible sympathy if they injure anyone.

This clown gets no sympathy from me, he is a terrorist by any man's definition, and it is only luck that nobody has been injured thus far.

He could have easily already killed someone responding to these blasts. Look at the firefighters behind the metal shields. How far do you think their body parts will travel when that wellhead blows ?!

(That valve you are looking at is called a BOP or "Blow-Out Preventer" valve. How much pressure do you think it is under ? Why do you think they called it a BOP ? Do you think you can save yourself if it goes off right in front of you ?)

This guy is obviously someone with extreme and obsessive political views that he insists on pursuing at any cost, even risking the lives of others to do it...and for what ? For the sake of furthering his political agenda, which is off the charts in the first place.

Encana is going to spend the next 5 years pulling up all their lines, packing up and moving on ??!!

Actually, the outcome I see is this person or persons will be apprehended, charged and convicted. Encana wall carry on business as usual. So this is a total fools folly.

The point I am trying make is one persons terrorist is another persons hero. No one ever does anything so drastic as repeatedly blow up stuff without extreme emotional reaction some situation. This is the case with most of the strife around the world. An example I can think of right off the bat is the Palestinians. Their homeland and last remaining holdings are under attack by Israel, yet they are called terrorists because their government is not recognized or supported by the UN whereas Israel is. So because a homeland was created for the Jewish people after WW2, an older nation is under threat.

There are numerous other examples around the world with both internal and external combatants that do not wear a uniform and they are fighting for what they believe in. Even the Taliban think they are justified. maybe yes, maybe no. That would depend entirely on your perspective. Your perspective is your reality and one can only make opinions based on available information. We are only being told one side of this story, that of Encana, who is a recognized holder of a permit to harvest that resource.

My question is, "Why is this person or group committing what they surely know to be illegal and possibly an act of war?"
