100 Mile House, B.C.- On July 26th, 100 Mile House RCMP executed a CDSA search warrant for marijuana on a rural property near Lone Butte, BC.

Three adult males ages 47, 48 and 49 from the lower mainland were arrested for Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

The property consisted of four large green houses that were approximately twenty five feet in width by one hundred and twenty five in length. The green houses were all full of marijuana plants and the residence had a small quantity of marijuana plants. The total seizure was 2,344 plants.

The three adults have since been released pending their next court appearance.

2 busts in 2 days by 2 different detachments. My spidey sense says there will be more soon. One would think that with BC having a new AG, there is a concerted effort to actually stem the drug trade at the source. Much more effective than getting smokers and street deqalers. Now if they could only locate the 100,000 other grow shows, then they might make a dent.

Does anyone have a more accurate number for grow operations in BC?

BC's number one industry is all part of the underground economy. No taxes, no benefits to fund, nothing but profit till the 1:10,000 chance of being caught is realized.
You are out in 24 hours the judge sentences you to do community service and then you are only out of bussness until you can grow a new crop. Legal system is a joke. Have heard people say so what if I get caught much nicer inside than out here. Prison becomes almopst a reward for getting caught. A win win situation for the habitual crimnals.
Oh give me a break. How can anyone with a straight face say that prison is a reward over those miserable living conditions on O'Grady road or any other run of the mill neighbourhood where grow-ops are found? Who are these growers you've been talking to?
Good job RCMP and good job Opinion250 for not using the magic calculators and sensationalizing the story by trying to put a meaningless dollar value on the siezure.
They should pass a law against people having grow-ops. Oh, they have one? Well, never mind then.
These busts are great; however, it would be nice to hear about more busts relating to much more harmful drugs ie. crystal meth, heroine, cocaine, etc. etc. When looking at substance abuse I find that marijuana seems to a "lesser evil" than those others. Great job, but I hope to see some much harder drugs pulled off the streets. It isn't often that we hear of someone that is high on marijuana getting the motivation to assault or steal from someone on the streets to get the money the need to feed their addiction. Again, just a lesser evil.
Nice to hear they've been released..... cuz it's so likely they are innocent and just happened to be in the wrong place/wrong time.
would you rather have the jails filled up with pot smokers and growers or child molestors and sexual predators?.you get my point
and its called a promise to appear..they just gave bail to that scum bag who killed that kid 10 years ago and you guys are crying cause some 50 yr old man was growing a few plants in his greenhouse.what should we give him 25 years lol
Pot gets traded across the border for coke, pound for pound.

This is likely a targeted bust relating to organized crime, this is not about smokers or grow your own stone.

The effect of taking down this show, is that there is no pot there to trade for coke, thus there is equivalent weight in coke not going to be coming across the border now.

Also, there is the financial hit.
Also, there is the criminal justice system.

The police are engaged in a multi-faceted operation to take down organized crime (bike gangs, etc.) and this is simply one part of that operation.

The coke that comes across the border becomes crack on the streets of Prince George.
^^ sounds to me like you;re in the business yourself if you know the numbers and how it works so good
Gotta agree with reasonableman. This is not about a small home operation and a couple of plants.

This is about something much bigger (and more violent) that the pot advocates never seem to acknowledge the existence of.
"reasonableman" I do agree with the bust of this size being much more significant, given what you have said above. At first glance all a person hears about is the marijuana being pulled off the streets, but when you really consider things like you have stated above, it does so much more than that! I forget about the great reputation that BC Grown Marijuana still has. Also, we don't often hear about small grow-op busts so they are obviously targeting something much bigger than that. Thanks for the eye-opener!
