WILLIAMS LAKE- Excellent progress was made by night crews on the Alexis Creek fire.

The fire burning at Alexis Creek is now estimated to be 150 hectares.  Fire suppression personnel worked through the night and were able to build a guard around 70 percent of the fire.  Today, 80 fire fighters, eight pieces of heavy equipment and four helicopters will continue to build new guard as well as reinforce existing guard.

Seems no one is interested in forest fires. Just a fact of life I suppose.

When one looks at a map of BC which has all the satellite identified fires on it, it is interesting to note that there does not appear to be a single fire in about a 150 km circle drawn with PG at its centre.

Nearest one is south of Vanderhoof detected earlier today but is shown as not having been verified.
