What a genius the people are who pulled this scam off. Instead of ripping on the people who are smart enough to actually pull this off. How about you rip on the morons who willingly divuldge all there personal info to a stranger over the telephone.

Awards have been given for people who "do a service to Humanity by removing themselves from the gene pool" (i.e. lose the ability to reproduce either by death or sterilization in a stupid fashion).

It is just common sense not to give out information over the phone. If there were no people stupid enough to "comply" with a request for such information, these scammers would not have a chance to exist. Be wary and always ask for such information to be sent on an official form through the mail. If it is legit, the mail will arrive in plenty of time for expired medical cards (*as per the example above)to be renewed in plenty of time. A scammer will likely never send a mailing so it protects you.

I just can't find it within myself to congratulate people who do nothing else other than to try and find ways to rip people off. They should just get a real job and leave people alone.

These scammers are types of people who prey on the elderly. Maybe we should congratulate muggers for preying on weak and old people.

In their world, it is their job.
They do not have a "real" job in the classic sense due to not having employability skills. This could be because of social environment or addictions. In Africa, Asia and most third world countries, ripping off people is a way of life. What else does one do when there is no possibility of employment yet one must feed their brood.

Before ya'll get your panties in a twist, I am in no way suggesting that it is right or justifiable, just that it is what it is.

Isn't this just a big lame excuse that people use to justify to themselves why they 'should' scam people? If they can dial a phone and communicate, I'd suspect they're at least somewhat employable. Give me a break.

Agreed, and if there were no weak people, there would be a lot fewer muggers. So what's your point?

I am not nor do I ever make excuses, lame or otherwise. They are not employable because an employer cannot rely on them to show up every day, and on time. Hell, employers can barely trust sheeple to show up on time and do their job.

Little do you know of the other social cultures in Canada. Go spend a week on the street with no money. Go volunteer at a soup kitchen and observe the state of that humanity. Talk to a female Muslim. Employ a street person to do some menial labor around your house. Only by seeking answers from those we have labeled do we approach understanding. I have been there, and I have risen above. Lucky me and you as with a series of unfortunate events, we to could be there to be labeled as they are.

Muggers do not just target the weak. That is just one of many attributes they prey upon. They also prey on the distracted and the intoxicated. Not every one can be a big strong he-man all the time. It is incumbent on the strong to protect the weak. That is why we have civilization.

If there were no weak or meek, the muggers would just use a bigger stick or better tactics, think "gangs and guns".
