WILLIAMS LAKE- The 200 hectare fire burning north of Alexis Creek is now 100 percent contained due to the hard work of fire suppression personnel.

Today almost 60 fire fighters continue to attack the fire burning on the north side of highway 20 by Alexis Creek.  Heavy equipment and helicopters continue to assist in the fire fight.  Fire crews have been conducting burn off operations to ensure that there is no un-burnt fuel within the perimeter of the fire; therefore reducing the chance of flare ups.

An evacuation order has been rescinded for the Alexis Creek area.  For more information regarding evacuations, please contact the Cariboo Regional District at 250-392-4283.

The Cariboo Fire Centre has responded to over 370 fires since April 1st of this year.  Approximately 100 of these fires were person caused.  The Fire Centre would like to remind the public to use extreme caution with any sources of heat in grassy or forested areas and to remember that there are campfire and open fire bans in place within the Cariboo.
