Pitt Meadows, B.C.- Prime Minister Stephen Harper says B.C. will likely be in line for Federal Disaster relief.

The Federal Disaster Relief Act kicks in   automatically when damages reach a certain level. Harper says he expects that Act to come into effect.

B.C. has already paid $120 million dollars battling forest fires in the province. That is twice the budgeted amount and August is usually the worst month of the fire season.

The Prime Minister says the current concern is not the costs “Obviously the concern right now is less about cost and just about making sure that this problem is effectively tackled.”

Thousands of people have been forced from their homes as fires rage near their communities.

On Friday, crews from Australia and New Zealand will arrive to help battle the fires in the province.
