KAMLOOPS– Effective immediately and until further notice, the use of portable propane campfires is prohibited in the Kamloops Fire Centre.

This is in addition to the Category 1 (including campfires), Category 2 and Category 3 restrictions already in place.

This open fire ban applies within BC Parks and to all public (Crown) and private land outside of organized areas. This fire ban does not apply within municipalities or regional districts that have their own burning bylaws. Please check with your local authorities before lighting a fire this summer.

This open fire ban is in effect to protect public safety and to limit the risk of person-caused wildfires. This ban does not restrict fires in stoves using gas, propane, or briquettes. This restriction does apply to open flame campfire apparatus (i.e. propane campfires).

Portable propane fired campfire? Does that sort of thing actually exist? Gimme a break! If you need one of those, you should stay home and use it in the back yard.

Guy jumps out of an airplane. Neither chute opens. As he is falling, he sees this guy going up. He yells, "Know anything about parachutes?" The other guy going up replies, "No. Do you know anything about Coleman stoves?". Old joke.
