Prince George, B.C.- A Prince George company will be getting a visit from the Minister in charge of Revenue Canada today. The visit is a welcome one as Jean Pierre Blackburn will be bringing along a cheque for nearly a quarter of a million dollars.
The company, Bluewater Business Solutions, will be receiving $229,000 in tax credits for scientific research and experimental development.
Bluewater Business Solutions qualified for the tax credit for their design and development of computerized systems and software that can create accurate cost-projection models for the forest industry.
The dollars come from a tax incentive fund that gives cash refunds or tax credits for research and development done in Canada.

Ok, a tax credit is no where near a cheque for a quarter of a million dollars. What is it, a quarter of a million dollars in hand or a credit? The difference is huge.
Tax credits sound good in theory but when they are applied to your taxes the benefit is no where near the dollar figure of the credit.

Perhaps a tax person could elaborate.
There are no good visits from Revenue Canada. Be aware, be very aware, for with the sleight of hand inherent in many tax department workers, they will have your wallet out and emptied before you finish pouring them a coffee. This JP Blackburn no doubt has a masters of extraction
(of your hard earned cash!)
metalman.
