Love the stories and attention given to the PGX. It's a wonderful, longstanding community event celebrating the agricultural community. It's a shame that the Midway gets all the attention. While it's fun to take in some rides, these folks (Midway operators) are not from or for our community, but they are kind of stealing the show. You have to wade through a city block's worth of loudspeakers with carnies trying to get your attention before you can even find the community stage, livestock exhibitions, arts & crafts, and the local food vendors. There were plenty of exhibits from local artists, and "green thumbs", but maybe we can generate some more interest in participating in and viewing the contributions from the hard working, local folks. I made a point to take my two year old on the heritage train ride instead of on a spinning strawberry, as this supports the local folks who put on the PGX. It would be nice to get more local attractions and events at the PGX, the way it was intended to be
Good post by The Real Moses. It's not all about the Midway. Hopefully the other things will given more prominence in future years.
