Cops don't investigate themselves; they set out to exhonerate, and fit facts and fiction within that framework.

But don't defend the Complaint Commission. The Commissioner is a former Deputy Solicitor General for the federal government. He accepted the cop version in the Ian Bush Murder case.

And, is it a solution to have other agencies investigate cops? A rights group - Pivot Legal Society - reported over 50 complaints against Vancouver Police to the provincial Office of the Police Complaint Commission. Under pressure Commissioner Ryneveld (former Deputy Regional Crown Counsel), the RCMP was handed complaint files and spent over $1,000,000 on an investigation. Results: one quarter of complaints were found to be of substance. But...VPD's disgraced police chief spent another $200,000 to sandbag the substantiations. Corrupt cops were shielded from justice.
