Quesnel, B.C.-  The City of Quesnel is adding its voice to the  chorus of communities calling on the Province to continue its  funding of libraries.  With annual funding not yet delivered, libraries throughout  the province are  growing increasingly concerned that  funding will not be forthcoming.

Quesnel Council will send a letter to Premier Gordon Campbell seeking support for adequate funding of public libraries. Derek Corrigan, the Mayor of Burnaby, in a letter to the Premier, wrote about the possibility of the provincial government not funding public libraries. "If the provincial grant is not forthcoming this year, all public libraries . . . will be in a deficit position for 2009 and face significant hardship in meeting their 2009 obligations."

The City of Quesnel is a member municipality  of the Cariboo Regional District, who operate the library system, including the Quesnel branch.
