Prince George, B.C.- A charge has been laid under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act against someone at Prince George City Hall.
The charge is in connection with the release of a confidential report produced for the City on allegations of harassment and conflict of interest against two senior employees at the RCMP detachment.
The report, called the Heller report, was presented to the Mayor and City Council in an in camera session. Not long after that closed door session, the report ended up in the hands of the CBC and a copy of it was posted to the CBC’s website.
The City requested the RCMP investigate the alleged improper release of the report. That investigation has now resulted in a charge being laid.
The charge is that “being an employee, officer or director of a public body, and having access to personal information in the custody or control of the public body, did disclose that personal information in contravention of the noted act.”
While the name of the person charged has not been released, police confirm a summons has been served and the first court appearance is set for September 22nd.
