Prince George, B.C.- A charge has been laid under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act against someone at Prince George City Hall.
The charge is in connection with the release of a confidential report produced for the City on allegations of harassment and conflict of interest against two senior employees at the RCMP detachment.
The report, called the Heller report, was presented to the Mayor and City Council in an in camera session. Not long after that closed door session, the report ended up in the hands of the CBC and a copy of it was posted to the CBC’s website.
The City requested the RCMP  investigate the  alleged improper release of the report.  That investigation  has now resulted in a charge being laid.
The charge is that “being an employee, officer or director of a public body, and having access to personal information in the custody or control of the public body, did disclose that personal information in contravention of the noted act.”
While the name of the person charged has not been released, police confirm a summons has been served and the first court appearance is set for September 22nd.

SO....a ploy on the part of the city management and rcmp management to seek revenge on the person named....eh?
Yeah I was reading on this as well. Geez R.C.M.P themselves out of the bad media at all. Like I say on the CBC website as well in recent weeks. Get out of BC R.C.M.P. Lets get our own Provincial Police.

Wow.

Someone takes confidential and sensitive information, then gives it to the CBC. At that point they have broken the law. The city asks the RCMP to investigate. The RCMP find out who did it; with enough evidence that the crown is willing to proceed with a charge.

Now people are going after the RCMP??? Get a grip!

It's one thing to argue if confidential and sensitive information should or should not be shared with the public. If you want to debate that fine. But lets leave the RCMP out of it who have A) done as they were asked to by the city (find out who leaked it) and B) put together a strong enough case that the crown is comfortable in proceeding with it.
The rumours are rampant!
Seek Revenge I think that sums it up.I hope its not with tax payers dollars, if it is I want to know how much its going to cost us for this Revenge???
