PRINCE GEORGE – Effective noon today, and until further notice, Category 1 open fires, including campfires, are permitted throughout the Prince George Fire Centre, including the City Of Prince George.

Category 2 and 3 fire bans remain in place across the entire Prince George Fire Centre.

The lifting of this category 1 fire ban applies to BC Parks and to all public (Crown) and private land outside of organized areas. It does not apply within municipalities or regional districts that have their own burning bylaws or bans. Please check with your local authorities before lighting a fire.

This Category 1 fire ban has been rescinded due to the fire danger being lowered by recent rainfall and cooler temperatures throughout the Prince George Fire Centre. Regardless of the lower risk, the public is urged to remain vigilant and cautious with their use of campfires.

Time for a weinie roast
Weren't they just stressing the importance of the ban this morning?
Looks like your gonna need a gallon of diesel to start a fire now anyway. Or how about getting rid of them old tires.

Why is it called the Prince George Fire Center?
In BC we have the Coastal, Northwest, Southeast, and Cariboo Fire Districts.

And then there is the Prince George and Kamloops ones. Why are these not named similar to the others.

I thought the campfire ban was already off since they said last weekend it was off for the northern part of the Prince George Fire Center.

I thought that meant Bear Lake or McLeod lake or somewhere north of Prince George.

Seems like unnecessary confusion to me.
