Prince George, B.C. – The fight to have fluoride removed from Prince George’s drinking water will be brought to Prince George City Council tonight. A group which favours the removal of fluoride will state it’s case.
Also on the agenda for tonight’s regular meeting;
The Prince George Symphony Orchestra will request $40 thousand to get its upcoming season off the ground.
Council will be asked to start a public consultation on the development of a Downtown Health and Wellness Centre with associated affordable housing opportunities. The idea is to bring together several health and social services under one roof.

Council will be asked to establish a Bid Committee to develop phase two of the City’s bid for the Canada Winter Games.

The soil removal and deposit bylaw will also be discussed. Staff will present an update on the work being done to update that bylaw. That bylaw would also require public consultation.

The only flouride humans should have are the ones that you spit out. That is why I am happy to be on a well. :}
How many times do we have to bail out the symphony orchestra? I thought the last time we did this it was supposed to be the LAST TIME!!!
Only 3.5% of B.C.'s population is still on fluoridated water - Prince George is the last big city which hasn't got the message yet!

None of the major centers has it, Vancouver never had it and people in Vancouver have fewer cavities and dental problems than people in Toronto who has had it for decades.

It's a poisonous chemical and sooner or later P.G. will discontinue its addition which is in fact a mass medication with no dosage control.

Hopefully right after the council meeting !
Does the Brita remove Flouride?
I can only speak for me but I have perfect teeth and spent my childhood in South Western Ontario where flouride I think is still in the water. I have had no problems with it.
Fluoride. Great if you have perfect teeth. How about the rest of your body?

I choose not to ingest it on a daily basis with every glass of water and absorb it through my skin when I am taking a shower.

I personally do not wish to be medicated against my wishes.

People who insist on their daily fix can pop a little pill with their water or brush their teeth with fluoridated toothpaste.

Boiling water does not remove it. Reverse osmosis apparently does as does steam distillation.

Brita? I don't know.

Best approach is to not add it to otherwise clean drinking water.

the company's website makes it quite clear that "you don't have to worry about missing out on the benefits of fluoride in your tap water."
You morons. Do you drink milk? Its "mass medicated" with vitamin D and B1. Do you use salt? (You must, its essential to life) Its "mass medicated" with iodine. Without iodine, you go crazy. I've never had a cavity thanks to flouridated water. Just because you have no understanding of chemistry and are a paranoid lunatic doesn't mean you get dictate public policy. Go wear your tinfoil hats in the privacy of your own home. I hope this gets shot down in the interest of the greater good. Your toothless faces will be your punishment. God people in this town can be dumb as squirrel crap sometimes.
Yah good for you Gamblor. Glad someone agrees with me/ Thank God there is some smart people out there.
What! are they putting ground up grain in our water? (flour-ide) or is it the same old fluor-ide that they have been treating us with for decades? Supposed benefits aside, I would rather have the choice, and use a fluoridated toothpaste if I want to. I have been in three of the pumping stations where they add the chemicals, this additive comes in 50# bags, and is dumped into a hopper. From there it is somehow fed into the water supply system. I can't help but wonder how finely regulated the ratio of chemical to water is, if there are occasional dips and spikes in the feed process.
metalman.
If they put Floride in then we don't have a choice but drink it - unless you buy water. If they don't put it in you can add with floride drops - so the choice would belong to those that drink the water. I think the choice should be up to the individual. It's probably cheaper to not add it.
I grew up without it and have very good teeth. I would just like to have the choice.

I agree, floride should be a personal choice.
I'm thinking that the flouride is a standard part of the overall city policy which advocates them putting things into your body that you really have no choice about. Flouride in the water, chemicals in the air, etc. Trust them, it's good for you :)

Fluoridate sugar. Not water.
D and B1 are vitamins that the human body requires to function properly.

Fluoride is a poisonous waste by-product of the chemical industry.

The human body does not require it.

It's a highly toxic and corrosive substance.

Only uninformed people insist that it is harmless - they can put as much of it in their bodies as they want for all I care.

Yes, a choice if I want it or not would be nice. Also a lot of that water goes down the drain, back into the environment. I think the fish and wildlife would like a say if they want flouride in their water.
Gotta agree with gamblor for the most part. This is more about people's paranoia than anything else. There's chemicals everywhere folks, fluoride should be at the bottom of people's concern. Much ado about nothing.
Ya - lets stop using chlorine too. I should get to choose whether or not to die from cholera if I want! The greater good outweighs personal choice. These guys are nuts.
