The Northern Health Authority says a Prince George youth has died from the flesh eating disease (necrotizing fasciitis )

Although the  name of the youth has not been released,  the Northern Health Authority  is contacting people who may have been in close contact with the  victim of the disease so they can recieve preventive  shots.

Dr. Lorna Medd, Medical Health Officer for the region points out there are, on average, three to six cases a year in this part of the province.

Dr. Medd says one symptom of the disease is pain that  seems far greater than the wound. She advises anyone who experiences such a symptom seek medical treatment as quickly as possible.
