Prince George, B.C. - The City of Prince George is taking the next step in its effort to land the Canada Winter Games for 2015.

Prince George, Kelowna and Kamloops, are vying for the Games.

Phase I of the bid process involves a technical review of the community’s capacity to meet the official Hosting Standards of the Canada Games.  Phase I must be submitted by October 2 of this year.

Then comes Phase II which involves the development of a Comprehensive Host Committee Bid Submission. Phase II must be submitted by May 28, 2010.

Council has agreed to establish a Select Committee (2015 Canada Winter Games Bid) to prepare the Phase II Bid. The Select Committee membership will require appointment of individuals to fill those roles.  Council has approved delegating the task of committee appointments to the Mayor, City Manager and IPG/CEO.
