Prince George is one of a few cities in the province to send a delegation to the Torino Olympics.

While Prince Goegre gears up to send a contingent to attend the Torino Olympics, Kamloops, Vernon and Kelowna, even North Vancouver with a similar sized population as this city, will not send a delegation in spite of being on the main corridor to the games.

Chilliwack is not sending anyone to the Olympics but is hosting the World Junior Chez team in their city in the coming weeks.  A Chilliwack City spokesman says "We are also hoping to make contact to have the Chez Olympic team stay here".

Squamish , which sits within minutes of the Whistler facilities and the area from which most of the workers for the region live are sending , “a couple “, according to the Mayors Office and are hoping the Chamber will also find sufficient funds to send a couple but that plan remains in the air.

The City of Richmond will send a contingent to the games. A city hall official said "We are a host community and given that fact we have to be on the scene to see just how we will need to operate."

In Kamloops, the Austrian national ski team is training at Sun Peaks, before moving on to Lake Louise and Aspen Colorado where the worlds are being held.

Why even bother commenting???
We were all just waiting for a big announcement of a nice holiday for Kinsley.
Of course, has Offet ever been anywhere other than on the "taking" end of the group???
He is likely the 2nd most useless one of the group.
The others are just token, but maybe Madden is owed a favor??? I wonder??
I think Milburn should go-after all he did the dirty work with that well over the allotted signs permitted by Kinsley for the election.
Smooth move on Kinsleys's part-and NO repercussions.
Well done!!!!
I am sure the participants of the Olympics will be willing to go into lengthy discussions with this group as to the benefits to be derived by being in attendance.
The joke is once again on the residents in this city.
I sure hope those Hart Highway voters get their new Cameron street bridge, as they probably cast their ballots with that thought in mind, and we all know what "tunnel vision" does.
Great time of year to escape Prince George, and good heavens, no one to keep track of the party times.
Looks good on you folks waiting patiently for that bridge.
Wonder how quickly the next 3 years will pass.
Even the head count of residents means less money to this city.
Oh, what the hell is $38,000.00.
Have fun,'cause after all, it is not at your expense!!!!
Gotta love the personal attacks...

'Kinsley... Offet... Milburn...'

Maybe Gypsy can tell us her / his last name so we can make fun of her / him (personally) in the media...

What's $38,000?

About what the City of Prince George spends to buy one (that's one) pick-up truck for their fleet of service vehicles.

Hey Gypsy... if you're so upset about the City spending $38 grand to send 5 influential representatives overseas to develop business opportunities related to the Olympics, what about all those pesky City pick-up trucks driving around...?

What a waste of money THAT is...

Maybe we could save some 'working man tax dollars' by buying a fleet of scooters... or bikes.
Jethro-I admire how you work so hard to protect those at Prince George City Hall.
Brother, cousin, offspring, nephew-whatever-you are so intent on defending these people you, in effect, are disclosing perhaps more of your identity than you wish. Of course-hillbilly immediately comes to mind with your handle, so I assume you could be related to any of them!!!!!
I have been interested in this city for many years. I have watched the comings and goings of many Mayors, councillors and administrators in different positions. I remember the days of E. Obst, G. Farstad, P. Bloodhoff etc. I recall the Mayors going all the way back to Dezell.
None of them were tripping all over the country at taxpayers expense. Many who held office at City Hall really cared. I do not see that same dedication today.
Who in this group is going to be the interpreter, or am I to assume they are all fluent with the Italian language??
It will just amount to a hell of a party with a good spin for the public upon their return.
A nice holiday with no expense to the holidayers!!!
The taxpayers deserve better.
Really Jethro, this city is in trouble, and only a minimal number of the residents seem to care.
Personally, I myself do not care-as I have no axe to grind, nor am I looking to reap any benefits from dealings with City Hall.
I actually would like to see many of the departments exposed, and feel purchasing is one that is deserving of a full audit.
Yep, time to check out those trucks!!!! And more!!!
Some of those workers leaning on shovels, sitting relaxing in those trucks, or half a dozen having their little meeting in the middle of the highway are not the cream of the crop as employees.
There are good amongst the bad, but how many get hired because they know someone inside. I have heard this is common? Maybe I should name a couple???
You, obviously, will work diligently to defend City Hall.
I expect more for the taxpayers.
But then, my name is not Jethro.
You're absolutely right Gypsy...

City hall is infested with self-serving, incestuous vermin...

And you're also right on this... I'm the nephew of a 'certain' politician's love child... Remember that Grand Opening of the Multiplex a few years ago when the mayor said he 'wanted to cut some ribbon...'

Politicians, city managers, civic administrators, lawyers, planners, economists, hoydie-toydie University types, college kids, etc. shouldn't be trusted...

The real future lies in complaining, negative, uneducated, bitter old people who feel victimized every time somebody does something on their behalf, because they couldn't possibly do it for themselves.
Oh mercy sakes!!
Now we have the cutting of the ribbon at the opening of the multiplex confused with a nephew of a "love child."
I am missing the connection. but then a bit more information is required to piece this puzzle together.
I do not give such descriptives to employees at city hall, although I am open to suggestion that perhaps Jethro has a valid point.
I have no axe to grind. I do not care what happens to the city of Prince George, but that does not hamper the pity I feel for the residents.
I feel Prince George should have remained a progressive city, with a "growing" population.
I have a hunch the powers that be at City Hall will be strenuously promoting a "gaming " centre to be established in the city, and that will be on the agenda in the near future.
Money to operate this city must be derived from some source. Will a gaming centre bring the much needed revenue??
But what will the price be to the residents??
Society ends up paying a heavy price for addictions of any description, and gambling happens to be one of them.
In any case, I shall not respond to you again, as your ramblings are not deserving of a response.
The rise and fall of this city has been obvious to many, but judge not the elderly, as they have had the opportunity to see it all.
The young are definitely at a disadvantage.
