The slate of candidates running in next month's federal election in the riding of Cariboo-Prince George is expected to grow by the end of the day.

Conservative MP Dick Harris will be seeking his 5th term in the January 23rd election.  Harris supporters were out yesterday putting up campaign signs.

So far, Quesnel mill worker, Alfred Trudeau, is the only declared challenger.  Trudeau was the only person to seek the nomination for the federal New Democrats.

A 46-year-old professional engineer and CNC instructor will be seeking the nod from Liberal party members in the riding at a nomination meeting this afternoon.  Riding association president, Dave Wilbur, says Simon Yu has signalled his intention to run for the Liberals and is, so far, the only person to do so.  Wilbur is not disclosing where the nomination meeting will be held in Prince George nor how many party members are expected to attend the 4pm gathering.

As of tomorrow, it's exactly six weeks until voters go to the polls.
