Prince George,  B.C. - The Native Friendship  Centre on Third Avenue was evacuated  this morning as Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a report of smoke inside the building.

Fifteen firefighters in two engines, a rescue and the ladder truck were dispatched to the scene just before 9:00 this morning and found light smoke coming from a storage room located in the basement.

Upon further investigation crews determined the smoke was caused by an electrical motor which had shorted out, causing the wiring around the unit to burn.

Crews set up positive pressure fans through out the building to clear the smoke.

Occupants of the Friendship Center were allowed to re-enter the building once the smoke was cleared by Fire Rescue Personnel.

Damage was limited to the electrical motor.
