Prince George, B.C- Organizers of the fight the HST campaign are expecting a solid turnout today to a rally in front of the constituency office of Minister of Forest and Range Pat Bell.
“We have had excellent support” says rally organizer Mike Summers, “The rally in Prince George is one of 14 that have been organized in this region.”

Summers says participants want to send a clear message to the elected MLAs “We want them to remember they were elected to represent us, and to bring our wishes to Victoria, not the other way around.”

Summers is hopeful the voices will be heard “Hopefully the government will recant and get rid of the harmonized tax, but failing that, we will be circulating a sign up list  with the hopes anyone who wants to help us in the initiative will sign up.”

That initiative calls for 10% of the eligible voters from every constituency to sign on. If that is accomplished, the government will have to make a change “It is one way of showing what democracy can be” says Summers.

The rally today is set to get underway at noon in front of Pat Bell’s constituency office on Central East, just south of 5th Avenue.

This rally is far more than the HST. The HST is just the final straw which broke the camels' back. Taxpayers' want common sense when it comes to Governments' spending their tax dollars.

The high cost of government.

See you all at the rally
Having politicians in charge of final public financial decisions is like the fox being in charge of the chicken coop.
Give'em hell Mikey!
Yaaaaawn
If you don't think that the government will come out of this with more money in their coffers, then you might as well go back to sleep.

More people will be paying more taxes on more stuff. Period. Don't let their slick sales pitches convince you otherwise. The last person in the line is going to pay for everything.

The more money you give to the governments and the bankers, the less you have to pay for the basic necessities of life.

If you don't have anything, then this will not affect you. Someone else is probably paying for your keep anyway.

Don't be lulled into complacency. They are using the Salami Method of getting more and more of your money one slice at a time. Time to stop this and stand up for ourselves. They cannot do whatever they want and not have some consequences to deal with.
So we live in a socialist country & then we are surprised that the govt wants more & more of our money?
I for one would rather see cuts to social programs & user fees for health care than higher taxes but just try & get that to fly.
Health care is important. The rest of social programs reek.
Maybe they should put a toll on the new Cameron Street bridge. So we can do our part for our Olympics. Am I allowed to type the word "Olympic" without running afoul of the copyright people?
Only 100 people? Pathetic!
How many people did the Chamber of Commerce have out for it's pro HST rally (luncheon) with mr? Hanson. Methinks that meeting might qualify as pathetic also. Special interest group at it's best.
100 people for either event demonstrates the level of apathy in this City.

For the past three days, we have had 30 high ranking Chinese business officials in this City, visiting the airport, the CN Rail logistics facilities, and the new runway extension at the Prince George airport. These people are here at the invitation of Initiatives Prince George, and are making deals with local business people, and even expressing interest in the shutdown Mackenzie pulp mill.

Where is the media coverage?
