Prince George- Police are looking for a 25 year old aboriginal male , slender build, with very short hair, 5ft 11 inches, wearing blue jeans, and a baggy white T- shirt, after a 24 year old Prince George man was stabbed in the 600 block of Quebec St early this morning.

At around 3.30 this morning a group of young adults left a local drinking establishment and were on their way to the 600 block of Quebec St to catch a cab for a ride home. One of the group got ahead of the others and became involved in an altercation and was stabbed in the neck.

The victim is in hospital in stable condition.

maybe knife will be next on the Registry.
My friend's daughter has knives on the registry at the Bay.
"My friend's daughter has knives on the registry at the Bay."

Nice.
My friend took me out last night and we walked by a bunch of them standing like they always do on 3rd and George doing nothing but looking for a reason to do something that is what you would say out of line.
And while your friend walked past a bunch of "them" last night did you notice either any a bunch of young adults who latter went to the local drinking establishment or the person described as a male of slender build, with very short hair, 5ft 11 inches, wearing blue jeans, and a baggy white T- shirt?

Actually, the plot thickens. I drove by a hot dog vendor at about midnight where a bunch of young adults were standing as they always do.

Too many people around in the downtown at night. Time to shut down the drinkiing establishments, hot dog vendors, street corners with handy planters being used to sit on, and rip out the remaining canopies that provide shelters for those times that it rains.
its time they tore down the core and rebuilt it. its an eye sore and it aint gonna matter how much they try to just cover it up with the planters and sidewalks its still the same ole run down native overrun crap hole its been for 20 years! downtown is dead stop trying to revieve it just keep on burning down the buildings so we can turn it in to a metropolis!
Gus why don't we all just go bury our heads in the sand. There isn't enough going on after midnight thats why it's so lame. And umm these buildings that are old are just I mean just 100 years old. That is not old for a building. Considering that there are buildings back east that are 400 years old. If you don't like Prince George and you keep bashing the place which I have called home for over 8 yrs why don't you pack up your little family and head er out of here and don't let the door smack ya on the way out.
Doze or burn the buildings & "the problem" will simply relocate. Possibly - gasp - to your precious College Heights.
The core is fine, the problem lies in that which may not be named.
The buildings back east were made of brick and sandstone. Here they are made of wood and cardboard. They burn well.
Run the bar owners out of town and the drunks will follow them.
We made our weekly bike trip to downtown and the Farmer's market today.

As usual, we locked our bikes to a lamp post at 3rd and George.

Have any of the nay sayers noticed the progress being made on the New B and B music building? Not likely since you probably only observe the area from your arm chairs.

Although the building is brand new, it has an old style look to it. I understand that music studios will occupy the ground floor with office spaces on the second floor. It looks like an excellent start to a rebirth.
Since Morrison's Men's Wear closed, I don't go downtown for anything. Let the scum bags have it, they've destroyed it and the cops let them have their way. No profit in arresting or charging one of them, there is more money targeting the working class with speed traps, seat belt fines and other road blocks.
Why don't you people leave town and leave the rest of us alone here. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT HERE LEAVE GET LOST TAKE A WALK.
I'M SICK OF HEARING YOU PEOPLE CRY LIKE LITTLE BABIES. GO FIND IT BETTER SOMEWHERE ELSE.
...or better yet, you can stop reading the comments here if you don't like them.

If people don't keep the pressure on the downtown it will continue to deteriorate, although one wonders how much worse it can get.
Like Eatsbushes says-------the problem lies in that which must not be named.
good to see Chris is off his meds again.. or should I say run out of 'smoke'
Maybe give us some suggestions for what should be going on downtown past midnight that would make it less lame?
ACRIDERS comment is the best cops dont make no money by arresting people for beating up idiots down town so instead they setup road blocks and charge people 150 bucks for forgetting there license at home or not wearing there seatbelts..icbc is a big scam
interceptor what does meds or my mental health have anything to do with some stabbing downtown in the middle of the night. You got a problem with people with mental illness I guess. Oh yeah forgot you are the master race is that it.
Chris where are you from?? I was born here and my heart breaks when I go downtown. It is so sad how the downtown has been allowed to be destroyed. The one man that has some Guts to try to do something is being taken to court. The problem is we are taking in all of Canada's problems.
Wow, It is amazing how quickly mob mentality can take ones mind over. A man gets stabbed and the downtown gets blamed because there is nothing do do after dark.

There are good things downtown, they just are not for everyone. If it is not for you, then you have the option to shop elsewhere. That is what our city council does. The reason the downtown is populated by our city's poor people is because this is where all their food, shelter and government services are. People who have money, and jobs, have no reason to go downtown unless they want to buy a specialty good, or visit a professional office.

I am reminded of an episode of The Simpson's. It is where the city of Springfield gets all but demolished and the residents just decide to pack up and move 50 miles down the road and set up a new Springfield. In reality, we are stuck here. Let's embrace what good there is in our downtown, and holiday in places where the city council has grown a pair and directed the growth of their city rather than lining their pockets with big business cash.
why blame the core, or natives or the government? The problem is with the people themselves. I dont understand people who do such things. They are like a different species as far as I am concerned. WHat leads to such behaviour? I am not talking about finding excuses, i am looking for ways we can prevent people from feeling that carrying a knife around in case you might want to kill someone is a good idea.
