Prince George, BC.- The development of a Health and Wellness Centre for Downtown Prince George is the subject of a special meeting this evening.
The proposal was put forth by the Central Interior Native Health Society. The idea would see a Downtown Health and Wellness Centre coupled with affordable housing opportunities. The intent is to bring several health and wellness services under one roof, such as the needle exchange, women’s health, preventive and emergency dental care.    It is thought that by having everything under one roof, there will be not only increased accessibility, but a better coordination of services.
This evening’s session is meant to gather public input on the objectives of such a facility and discuss the proposal’s strengths and challenges.
The meeting is set to start at 6 p.m. at the Civic Centre in room 208.

Hey, If you want to do something with downtown, keep it out of downtown. Why would a commercial investor build something downtown, if it is infiltrated with social programs. Everyone knows, that these people on the programs have no disposable income. No disposable income means no retail. No retail means no need for new development.

Sure we could use a wellness center, but keep it between 1st and 2nd, or on the otherside of Queensway.
Why not put it by the hospital, Northern health, the phoenix building, etc.
If it is not going to be near where people live, at least place it in close proximity to other health facilities.

There happens to be a little used park between phoenix and PGRH plus the further reaches of the PGRH parking lot that is little used.
The park on Alward street is already slated as the new site for Lodging for the cancer clinic patients and their families.

It doesn't do any good to post your ideas on here....go to the meeting and express yourself.
I went to the meeting I think its a done deal ,the plans have been made and the site has been picked.I think the people of P.G. are gutless we are letting our City be distroyed with all these social services, DO WE WANT THIS CENTER?? Do we want more people sent here form who know where with who know what. How about our saftey?I also think the news meda did a poor job of reporting only 250 showed a picture of the money pit.
