Cooler Temps Help Firefighters in Battle Against Kelly Creek Blaze

CLINTON - Crews continue to gain ground on the Kelly Creek Fire.  Cooler temperatures have aided their fire suppression efforts. 

There are 56 fire fighters currently working on the fire, and they are being supported by nine helicopters and six pieces of heavy equipment.  The Kelly Creek Fire is estimated to be approximately 20, 925ha. 

The Thompson Nicola Regional District has rescinded the Evacuation Alert for residents within the Jesmond and Big Bar Road areas, as of 12:00 pm on September 27, 2009.

The Restricted Area Order remains in effect until further notice.  This order covers the area bounded by the Fraser River to the west, Big Bar Road to the north and east, and Highway 97 to Kelly Lake Road to the south.  Public and responder safety is the main priority.
