Another 100k a year job to have the gift of gab.
I wonder how many potholes could have been fixed for this lame job?
"Mr. Davis will play a key leadership role in raising citizen and business awareness of key initiatives and civic operations..."

Can somebody be hired please to raise the awareness of the City manager, council and mayor as to what the needs and wishes of the city's citizens are?
What the hell is IPG for This is not the time to hiring people to nothing but sit in a officeand get 100k or more of our tax doloars
!. Mouthpiece
2. Flack Man
3. Spin Doctor
4. Manager of Communications and Citizen
Engagement?

Citizen Engagement - does this mean that the Citizens of PG are engaged to the City Council and who is on top?
Perhaps this fellow understands that communications is a two way street. From the job title and description it appears that someone at City Hall has understood that as well.

Title: Manager of Communications & CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT (I assume that is engagement from a participatory point of view)

Description: play a key leadership role in raising citizen and business awareness of key initiatives and civic operations, and PROMOTING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PUBLIC ENGAGMENT.

I say we see how he does at that. It will take very little to make an improvement.

Can we afford another high paid civil servant??? I think the City is out of control when it comes to spending tax payers money.

I had hoped that Rodgers and the newly elected Councillors would get a grip on things, but I am beginning to have my doubts.

They may want to consider changing the name of the City to Blowhardville, as all they seem to be able to do, is blow their horns, run in circles, throw money into the air, and generally make fools of themselves. Do any of them have a modicum of and idea whose money they are spending, and what their responsibilitys are.

I doubt it.
Bad idea
show me an effective large organization without a quality communications dept/person.

pg has gone without anyone in this capacity for a few years now i was told and it has probably had a negative impact and outlook on things.

now there will be a person that can try to help us taxpayers understand what the hell they are doing in city hall. the media (such as the opinion 250 folks) will now have a go to person for anything and everything. citizens will have more avenues to provide input and feedback.

the theory on this one makes sense but i agree we cant give it a thumbs up or down till we see what type of impact the new position has.

Potholes have IMPACT! Spin doctors have that sucking sound you will hear when your tax dollars are disappearing.
Deputy Dan taking a page from Honest Gord's book. Private business across the province are seeking ways to cut costs and those spending taxpayer's money just don't get it!
The first thing I thought of when I read this story is that Davis is a job hopper.
After only a year with the airport, he is moving up, to a more prestigous and no doubt better paying position. Watch this guy, I predict he will use the job with the CPG as a springboard to a position in Kelowna or Vancouver. Just an opinion, I don't know this guy.
metalman.
Communications manager, eh? Can anyone phone this guy and vent their spleen about our gritty little mill towns approach to some peoples concerns? Communications is a two way street. What's his phone number? I'd like to know about when they are gonna get that Ospika connector started. If I can opt out of garbage pickup and save myself a few bucks a year. Stuff like that.
Mike Davis is a great person and his enthusiasm and talent are more than the City deserves for this lame position. Mike will soon become frustrated with his fellow bureaucrats in trying to put a postive "spin" on the crap that eminates from City hall.

Good luck Mike!
