Prince George, B.C.- One hundred students from Prince George and Mackenzie were among the 16 thousand students at GM Place in Vancouver yesterday for We Day.

The third annual event designed to empower youth to bring about positive change in the world, is sponsored by Free the Children. The day long event featured a high profile parade of celebrities who called on the young people in the audience to shape a new world. It was a message that was also carried by his holiness the Dalai Lama.

He called on all to achieve inner peace as the true path to world peace, and   said girls should take more active roles because females are “more sensitive to suffering”.

The 16 thousand attendees pledged to support a program to adopt 10 villages around the world. The project is called 10 by Ten, and aims to raise $10 and ten volunteer hours from each student to bring about positive change to 10 African villages.

Thank you for this. It's nice to have a positive and uplifting story especially when it's about kids who are trying to help those less fortunate. Having young ambassadors from PG involved in the global peace movement is inspiring!
