Prince George, B.C. September 2009  was the warmest September on record with a mean temperature of 12.9 degrees, just under 3 degrees above normal. That's the good news from Environment Canada Meteorologist Jim Steele as he presents his monthly  weather summary.  Here are the details:
The month got off to a very warm start, then cooled to near normal between the 3rd and 10th, then record warm temperatures on both the 12th and 13th. A slight cooling trend arrived for a few days between the 17th and 21st then the last blast of heat on the 22nd and 23rd, yet another record temperature established on the 23rd. The inevitable occurred in the last 5 days of the month with more fall like conditions arriving with cooler than normal conditions.

On the precipitation side of things, it was not your driest month that is for sure with some wet periods mixed in with the dry, ending up with slightly above normal precipitation for the month. Snowfall was basically absent with the exception of the 29th when significant rains occurred with some mixed frozen precipitation for a brief period.

In the end, it was not a bad way to round out summer, a record warm September but a bit on the damp side.
