Prince George, B.C. – Today is a day the Faulkner family has dreaded for 6 years. Today is the day the man who killed their daughter walks out of prison.
Speaking on the Meisner program on CFISFM, Rick Faulkner  says he knew this day would come, but “it has come very fast”.
Rick’s daughter Leah was strangled and was left to choke to death on her own vomit in February of 2002, her body dumped in a creek at West Lake Provincial Park. At the time, Neudorf told investigators she had packed up and left. It would be three weeks before her body would be found.
Tyler Neudorf was initially charged with second degree murder, but through plea bargaining, entered a guilty plea to the lesser charge of manslaughter. While initially sentenced to 8 years, Neudorf received time off for time spent in custody, and a successful appeal meant Neudorf spent 6 years in jail.
At a Parole Board hearing 2 years ago, the Parole Board released information that Neudorf laughed about his light sentence, he admitted to having thought about killing his own parents, he admitted to abusing Lea Faulkner and her son, and that the thought of killing “excited” him.
Rick Faulkner says the system let him down, “Every time you talk to different people you get a run around “ and that attempts to get information were brushed off  with “She (his daughter) was an adult.”
Leah’s parents have raised her son, who as it turns out, was also a victim of Neudorf’s. The Parole Board submission of two years ago indicates Neudorf had broken the child’s arm and submits that Neudorf then choked Leah because she was going to turn him in for abusing the boy.
“This has been very hard on our family, and our grandson is now of the age where he will hear things” says Rick Faulkner who fears for the safety of his family. “The Corrections Centre will advise the RCMP of where he goes when he leaves jail, but there has been nothing to let us know where he goes.”
Having served his full sentence, Neudorf will have 48 hours to report to a parole officer.

Disgusting. Complete and total failure of the 'justice' system.
Lets hope hope that justice in another form comes swiftly to this disgusting sick man. God will get you and hopefully he's fast
I am disgusted as well. Justice is a right that has to be worked hard for, it seems. good luck to the victim family. How did this all go wrong? the true character of this convicted man must have been obvious all along. So sad.
Disgusting is right! Is anyone able to find a pic. on the web of this guy?
Life sure is cheap. Six years is nothing.
I feel for the Faulkner family.
metalman.
God will get you and hopefully he's fast

He/She/It will do no such thing. As the omnipotent deity that not only created the world but also the entire universe including time, he planned this event and the outcome before saying "let there be light".

We live in a binary universe. One cannot recognize evil unless there is an opposite to compare against. That is why we have such evil perpetrated by man, so that we may recognize good. With this being a binary universe, why is God espoused to be a single entity? Something not right with that concept.

God is neither good nor evil, rather he/she/it embodies both.

I really wish these bible thumpers would grab a brain and quit looking to God to solve all the world's ill's. God planned it, started it and has more in store for us. God does not have the inclination to meddle in the paltry affairs of man. He did that at least once and had his blood sacrificed. That could hardly be called benevolent.

Throw down your crouch of religion and open your eyes. Religion is a construct of man and therefore is incorrect, inadequate, and a tool for population control. Revel in the grandness that was created for more than us mere humans. Admit that there is much we do not know or understand and live darn it, live! Praise your god in the chapel he/she/it created not in a man made structure of extravagances and lies.
huh?? What in the world is that all about Loki? That guy is disgusting and I agree with scorpio, hopefully justice will come swiftly and that poor little boy & his grandparents can move on.
Certainly what that waste of skin did is disgusting. The early release of said WoS is also quite disgusting. There is no disagreement on those points from me.

I just get irritated by bible thumpers alway jumping in and iether blaming "God", or appealing for "God's" intervention. God is not that concerned with the trivial doings of any individual human. If he were then war, poverty and pain would not exist. We would indeed be living in a heaven on earth. We don't, so either God does not give hoot or arranged it all, you decide.

Man's justice is not God's Justice. There is no justice on earth or in the universe. If there were, then I would not be the cantankerous bastard that I am and we would have no need for vile religion. Let's be clear, religion and faith, and God are all very different.

Having religion is to be brainwashed into subservience.
Having faith is believing in the unprovable.
God is null.
Before responding to this last one, look up null.

The construct of a deity was the earliest attempt by earliest man to explain the world and why things happened as they do. If one prays hard enough and does not offend the local concept of the local deity, then all will be well. If bad things happened, all one must do is appeal to the Gods and things will work out. I do hope that we humans have grown, developed and evolved beyond shamanistic explanations of natural events.

Now we have history recorded in literature that comprises science to explain our universe.

Quit thumping that corrupt tome, it makes you look weak and stupid.
Loki, maybe you can take some of your own advice and live and let live. Accept the fact that there will be people with different perspectives and viewpoints than your own.
Good grief Loki, relax will ya? People are entitled to believe what they wish, and if they choose to rely on their faith, whatever that may be, so be it.

In fairness, Loki isn't the one who brought his imaginary friend into this.
"Rick Faulkner says the system let him down"

Certainly it has. But the system has let everyone down. The system continues to try the patience of every law abiding citizen in this country.

Inevitably vigilante justice will occur, not necessarily in this case, but one like it. The system will punish the offender of mans law to a much greater extent than the 'real' offender. It will be the last straw. And the system will come crumbling down. The judges who are charged with upholding the law and administrating the system will inadvertently bring it down. And we will all be worse off.
Let's keep the religion out of this shall we?
There was no God around to help her when this woman was abused and murdered, was there?
What we really need is a good picture of this pig!
And how did this Neudorf creep get away with only 6 years for this, even with 2 years time served?
Who was the judge, and why was this sentence not appealed?
The system is designed to fail because its a Socialist plan. Socialists have never known success and always result in communism.
Any one ever look up the meaning of Loki? Maybe y'all should do that. Then you'll have a better understanding regarding his comments.
Disgusting! That's all I have to say.
Forget religion, I have to give my respect to Mr Faulkner - if that was my daughter I know that I would be the one in prison (for undoubtedly longer than six years) and the world would no longer have to worry about "Tyler"
If we could only imagine the grief and fear this family feels. If the people in contact with this family show them compassion, not curiosity and detached judgement, this family will survive. If their neighbours protect them and the community watches out for them they will be ok!
PG is and always has been the plea bargin capital of Canada... at some point people are going to have to start asking why that is. Plea bargins and special deals for story telling are the way the prosecutors operate in the PG courts and it may make their work easier, but it robs victims in this city of justice.

Criminals are rewarded for doing their crimes in PG by the conduct of our judiciary in this city. It is why we have the kind of downtown that we have. They all know all it takes in PG is a good story and a deal can be struck to get them off.

Ideally it should be Tyler Neudorf that should be living in fear... but justice in Canada is about protecting those people and not holding them to account. Accidents do happen to people like that though too....
I have always believed that in spite of the rhetoric about severe punishment not working, the bad guys do think about penalties, to a certian extent.
If they knew they would be going down for a long, long time, for breaking the law and leading a life of crime,,they would in fact consider another line of work.
Those that don't figure it out will go away for a VERY long time, and even a hardened criminal isn't going to be impressed by that'
Especially if they have already had a taste of prison life or know some one who has.
Penalties should be severe enough to put a little tear in the corner of their eye when that judge bangs that gavel for the last time!
I knew a guy years ago who did 12 years for attempted murder and after he got out,he did two years probation.
And it was very strict probation.
He told me it woke him up.
He knew when he served his 12 years of hell that he NEVER wanted to go back there.
He turned his life around and became a decent, productive family man, but the black mark was always there.
I suspect part of the problem is that a prisoner had few rights back then, because criminals had no rights once they locked that door.
Now our prisons are like retirement homes!
In the end,I believe it is implied to judges not to put anyone in jail that you don't have to!
God forbid we should ever have to build a new prison!
The goverment really hates that, so they just don't do it.
Hence the idea of not putting too many dirtbags in jail!
Which is also why our streets are no longer safe.
It costs the system too much money to put them in jail for an extended period of time.
Cheaper to turn them lose.
Isn't it always about money, one way or the other, and isn't it always about government/s who are just not listening?
Yes our justice system is a joke here in Canada. Guys like this and drug dealers, organized crime, all of these people are very, very bad people, but when they get caught it's a slap on the wrist. I can see where vigilanties might be sparked by this type of case. If the government won't protect the honest hard working people, then they may have to get together to protect themselves.......but probably won't happen, because they are honest, hardworking folks!
We do need new prisons. We need all the new prisons to be in the Yukon, NWT, and Nunavut. As far north as we can build a year round facility. No more new prisons near major centers. In fact, after the northern prisons are built, the southern ones can be deactivated. Just think of the economic benefit to the north territories!

By locating the prisons up there the prisoners will be treated to a summer like no other. Especially when it "warms up". That is when the black flies, horse flies and other nasties appear. Then there is the 9 month winter with the 6 month night. All that plus seal blubber for dinner, every day.

I am pretty sure that no matter how long a prisoner is up there, he will not want to ever go back. And any attempted escapees, can be watched for days as they trudge the tundra. They may even get lucky and avoid the polar bears.
Unfortuneatly, the bottom of their class lawyers cannot land jobs with prestigious law firms, so where do they go? To low paying jobs with various crown counsels across canada.
Here's a thought; Does anyone here know for sure who Tyler Neudorf is? Could it be that he is truly sorry for what he did? Could it be that he may yet become a productive member of society? Of course the fact remains that Leah Faulkner met an untimely death, and Neudorf did not serve enough time in prison, but can Tyler be 'saved'? not in the bible thumper sense, but in reality. That question may well be the pertinent issue now. What future lies ahead for Tyler Neudorf? With all due respect to the Faulkners, I believe that since the justice system has run its course with Tyler Neudorf, we should be more concerned with how he conducts himself in the future, the past has passed.
metalman.
Now I AGREE with Loki's last post. Thats why Canada is getting all these low life immagrant drug dealers, pedofiles, murders Etc.(and yes canada has their own). This country has become too slack with the punishment and that is because the government doesn't make any money putting anyone in jail.
hammy: Careful, slippery slope.
I have seen conspiracy propaganda that says the USA is not only privatizing the prison system, but also building numerous new prisons to support that industry. As soon as the government or anyone else can turn a profit at incarceration, how long do you think it will take to create new laws to more fully populate those prisons?

Incarceration should be a cost to all so that we can "reduce" that cost by deterring criminals and criminal life style.

Our prison population is now exceeding its capacity and we do need more prisons. I suggested new units be created way up north in the most harsh environment to discourage people from making criminal choices. I forgot to also suggest the north west end of Haida Gwaii. Few people live on that side and it's an island. If a prisoner escape, first they would have to survive the cold damp island air, then swim 50 to 100 KM to the mainland. Sort of like a mini pre-industrial Australia. And no TV, radio, board games. Prisoners would have to collect wood to heat the shakes and carry water.
Who cares if Tyler is sorry for what he did. He should not be out on the streets. He took a life of a young women and he should pay for it with his life behind bars for the rest of it.
What Tyler Neudorf did to Leah Faulkner and her family was unforgivable. I think that Canada should bring back Capital punishment for such crimes. As the old saying goes, an eye for an eye!!!!
YES, totally agree with you 'justice prevails'
"With all due respect to the Faulkners, I believe that since the justice system has run its course with Tyler Neudorf, we should be more concerned with how he conducts himself in the future, the past has passed."

Oh yes, I'm sure metalman would feel the same way if a loved one in his life was taken from him in the same fashion, and the killer served a paltry six years for his crime. Read the article again about Neudorf's parole hearing two years ago. Makes me want to vomit.

Capital punishment needs to be reinstated. There are too many bleeding-hearts out there that feel that everyone should have a second chance and that because someone says that they are sorry for the crimes that they committed, they should be forgiven.
