Prince George, B.C-  Three people are facing a variety of charges in what Prince George RCMP say is the largest cocaine bust in this community in at least 4 years.
Police executed a search warrant on a home in the 5700 block of Simon Fraser Avenue in College Heights. Police say the  home is considered a “safe house” for drug dealers who use ordinary, clean cut people in ordinary neighbourhoods to stash guns, cash and drugs for them.   In the bust made last night in Prince George, the male and female at the College Heights home were not known by police,  but they are now accused of working with organized crime. A third person was arrested near Uplands, police allege he was delivering drugs to the street dealers.
The seizure from the home consisted of $28 thousand dollars worth of cocaine, three long guns (a 22 single shot  rifle which had a bullet ready to fire, a 12 gauge Winchester shotgun which was loaded with 7 rounds and a 243 semi-automatic Remington Rifle which  was loaded), brass knuckles ( which are illegal) ammunition and an undisclosed amount of cash. They also seized six immature marijuana plants.
“This is exactly the kind of neighbourhood those at the top end of the drug ladder want to live in, it separates them from the lower end of the chain” says Constable Dan Schenkeveld who says this kind of activity is happening all over Prince George. “These people are compensated, either with cash or drugs (if they are users) for storing these things for criminals. I believe they know exactly what they are involved in.” Schenkeveld says there is nothing to prevent any neighbourhood from being home to such a safe house “It is happening everywhere in Prince George,   If you think that it isn’t, you’re sadly mistaken.”
Cst. Schenkeveld says its important for people to contact the police if they should spot suspicious behaviour like someone who is driving a very expensive vehicle but has no visible means of support, neighbours who throw lots of parties,   people who have visitors at all times of the day and night, “Humans are programmed to recognize things that are out of the ordinary. If you keep your eyes open, you will notice it.”

Bang on!!! When people complain about downtown drugs, they are seeing the visible tip of the iceberg.

Most people seem to forget about those who are living right next door and are key parts to the supply chain.
Weed is one thing but you get into coke , meth and pills then time to pull the plug.
Wonder if those guns were registered? Pretty good example of why the registry is a joke.
I don't know. Maybe if you are a person with a good job, financed a house and a car. Take a small holiday once a year and then the fit hits the shan and you have no income?? The offer pops up to make some easy cash, you're strapped, your kids are hungry, no relief in sight??? Drug money looks pretty good sometimes. Doesn't mean you're a lifetime criminal --maybe just a victim of the new Liberals.
I know it's a crime to have a loaded gun in your house, but it shouldn't be. Way too much hype about loaded guns, brass knuckeles etc. Use a roll of toonies or is that illegal too. How about plastic knuckles?? When I was a kid we made knuckles from white lightening body-filler. No one ever got hit but are they illegal? Dumb laws. No differnt than carrying a rock in your pocket. Socialist crap.
That's a good one. I was wondering how some politcal bashing would get worked in.

Dumb laws are created in response to some bonehead doing something stupid and getting caught. They are created by every form of government. A rock in ones pocket is just a rock until it is used as weapon. Then it becomes am assault weapon with associated charges.

Personally I stay away from environments where one needs to pack bondo knuckles or a sock and ball. We have laws to protect us you know.
This bust is just a drop in the bucket. Somehow I think the police are fighting a loosing battle. I'm not sure what the answer is, but I know the drug problem is increasing fast, and these busts, barely do anything. The drug business just looks so lucrative that it draws alot of people in. We need something more to stop these activities and to prevent and to make people more afraid of getting into the lifestyle. Punishments must be alot stiffer. The paid caused by getting caught should be greater than the gain.
OK Loki, let me try to explain about your statement, "We have laws to protect us you know". I ask you, do they?

We have laws that say we can't pack a weapon. That same law does not prevent somebody from shooting me in the head (with an illegal weapon) while they try to rob me!! So where does that same gun law protect me, when I am getting robbed, and shot with an "illegal gun"

Get real LOKI, and all you other bleeding hearts out there! There is a gang war going on in our city, don't pretend there isn't! Get your head out of the sand, before a stray bullet nails your blind ass!!
The people who occupy the house knew what they were into. They deserve everything they get. I hope their house gets forfeited to proceeds of crime.
Cheeta said it right, Imorge too. Not sure if Taxi is as cynical and jaded about the justice/drugs criminal situation as I am, but seems close. It has long been my opinion that convicted criminals are not punished enough, in general. More serious penalties would dissuade some at least from returning to a life of crime, I am sure. How about making things a lot less pleasant for the occupants of the jails for starters? Did you know that there will be a television in every cell of the new Women's prison? What kind of punishment is that? Are they planning to force the inmates to watch Oprah or the Simpsons 24-7? Off topic, but a good example of our lack of justice system would be the dipshit that murdered the Faulkner girl, six years? Never mind time spent in remand or whatever, the crooks are literally getting away with murder. The occupants of the house in C/Heights that allowed the drugs etc. to be stored there need to be shown that it will be unprofitable to them if they get caught.
metalman.
lol ok cheeta and metalman both of you guys are idiots.just like there is no more cocaine in the usa because its a 25 yr sentence there for a kilo.end of discussion.until the cocaine stops coming in on boats and planes theres nothing the RCMP can do bbut ust a few small timers up in college heights.wow 10 whole ounces of cocaine so thats 10 ounces less people can use from the 100 kilo shipment that prob was just flown in the country from mexico as we speak..its a losing battle legalize everything and let these idiots put whatever they want in there body until they all kill themselves
