PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Spruce Kings have made a player trade with the Merritt Centennials that sees the Spruce Kings acquire twenty year old defenceman Brad Bourke from the Centennials in exchange for twenty year old forward Andrew Pickering.
Brad Bourke played thirty games last season and another six this season for the Merritt Centennials scoring a total of 6 goals with 17 assists for 23 points. Bourke, who calls Onoway Alberta home, is a 6' 01" 175 pound right hander and is a good puck moving defenceman.
"Brad (Bourke) will add some experience to our blue line," said Spruce Kings General Manager and Head Coach, Ed Dempsey. "Getting some depth on defence has always been a key to our success and Brad will provide that for our team and we're looking forward to getting him into the lineup."
Brad Bourke is expected to be in the lineup for Tuesday's 7:00pm game against the Quesnel Millionaires at the Prince George Coliseum.
The Spruce Kings have also acquired local hockey product, Tyler Miller from the Centennials in exchange for future considerations. The trade was executed on October 3, 2009 allowing Miller to play his first game with the Spruce Kings on Saturday night
against the Williams Lake Timberwolves.
Tyler Miller comes to the Spruce Kings with both WHL and BCHL experience and will provide more depth along with size on the blue line. Miller is a right handed defenceman that stands 6' 03" and weighs 210 pounds. Last year Miller played 28 regular season games with the Westside Warriors of the BCHL. At the start of this season, Miller suited up for the Prince George Cougars of the WHL before being reassigned to the Merritt Centennials.
"Tyler (Miller) is a local player that has a lot to offer," said Spruce Kings General Manager and Head Coach, Ed Dempsey. "We pride ourselves on being able to give players from the city and the North a chance to play the game, so I think it is a good situation for both Tyler and the Spruce Kings."
