Prince George, B.C. RCMP have confirmed the remains found in the gravel pit  at Moore's Meadow this week are those of Jill Stuchenko.

An autopsy is being performed today in Kamloops to determine the cause of death.

The 35 year old woman had not been seen since late September.  On the 23rd of October,  Police issued a public request for any information on her whereabouts.

RCMP Constable Gary Godwin says the location of the remains is too far removed from major thoroughfares to consider this death as part of the Highway of Tears investigation.

Constable Godwin says until the cause of death has been determined, this is being classed as a suspicious death.

Moore's Meadow? I thought it was the Otway Gravel Pit as reported earlier this week?

Which is correct or are there two different stories?
Shame they didn't have a better picture of her to release in death. I'm sure she had a tough life and a lot of challenges...and there probably weren't a lot of pleasant, smiley family photos taken of her in the last years of her life...but she was still someone's daughter. Be nice if she could be remembered in a better light than a black eye in what appears to be a police mug shot.
It may come out that she was a victim of a previous assalt, hence her condition in the photo.
Pylot:
There is a gravel pit adjacent to Moore's Meadow. It has been a popular spot for teenagers to party for years. There are other gravel pits on Otway road, but they are on the west side of Foothills Boulevard, and this was on the east side. Hope that clears it up for you.

I agree with tombstone. This young womans' death is a tragedy to someone.
metalman.
Not everyone gets to live perfect lives, but they were trying to find normality.
This is a letter meant to set right the image of a woman who had a family,
who was a mother, who was a beautiful person, and who is now being pasted
as just another dead homeless woman; as indicative of the pictures and
insensitive stories throughout the media. Jill was not just another dead homeless
criminal, and shame on you for not taking the time to find out even a LITTLE bit about this woman before pasting such an unflattering image of her. I was friends with Jill when she and I both had young babies; she was such a lovely mother. Jill was so kind towards her son and loved him to pieces. Along with all of the wonderful attributes about her, came a tormented history, repeated victimization and a ton of hurt. It deeply saddens me that the stories have completely portrayed Jill in such an insensitive fashion. Jill was somebody's daughter, sister, mother, and
friend. Shame on the media. Please place yourself in the shoes of Jill's family
members. In the case of a tragedy, would you want YOUR OWN child to see you portrayed in such a manner?

I think the media coverage has been pretty sympathetic towards Jill. She was a mother of five who struggled with addiction issues for years. Those who loved her, did what they could but it was not enough to save her.

So far as finding out more about Jill - where should the media have gone to find out more and would that "more" have made things any better?

If society is going to help people like Jill (and I think society should do more while they are still alive rather than waiting until they are dead), then we have to be honest about their life-styles and about the risks that are inherent in those lifestyles.
