The Province will invest $2.5 million to rehabilitate an almost 30-kilometre stretch of Highway 16.  The stretch  of pavement runs between Bednesti and Carman Hll Road East.

Prince George-Omineca MLA  John Rustad has announced the section of highway will be resurfaced using hot-in-place recycling. Hot-in-place recycling removes a layer of the existing surface and mixes it with new asphalt, which is then reapplied to the road.

Work is expected to begin in the spring or summer of 2006 and be complete by the end of the summer.

"The existing highway surface is showing its age. This work will replace the cracked and damaged surface with a smoother, stronger highway as well as reduce the overall cost of maintenance on the highway," added Rustad.

Motorists can expect minor delays along Highway 16 during some portions
of the work.

Holy crap is that all you you can come up with.
I travel that road 1 -2 times daily as a local hauler.
What is needed is more passing lanes so the traffic can move more efficently,Like the back side of Cluckus lake hill,or the long drag from the Mudriver up through Beaverly to the Blackwater,That would be a start to improveing our highweays
Need passing lanes.
Well I agree about the passing lanes but also question the recycle in place procedure. Take at look at Oskpka Blvd. in PG from 15th to Massey. It was done by two different firms, one year apart and both sections are in need of redoing all ready. The one section should have never been accepted by the city given how poorly it was done.

The same holds true for Hwy 97 towards Chetwynd. They re-cycled in place, put down an inferior road surface, shorten the amount of paved shoulders and of course our government accepted that as a completed job.
Good section of road to smooth out the rails that can throw a trailer around pretty good. More passing lanes are needed though especially from Mud River to the Black Water.
