The Millennium Scholarship Fund committee  has reached an agreement with the College of New Caledonia (CNC) that will enable the two Springboard to Success winners, in June 2006, to receive a matching scholarship from CNC if they enroll full-time in a CNC program, at any one of the College’s regional campuses.

The College has campuses in Prince George, Quesnel, Burns Lake, Valemount, Vanderhoof, Fort St. James and MacKenzie. This means a student who wins a Springboard to Success scholarship of $1000 can double that amount if they train locally.

“It’s our hope that people who train ‘close to home’ will end up working here as well, further strengthening our communities and our economies.” Says CNC President, Ralph Troschke.

Committee member Norm Monroe said, “This is a great opportunity for the students of this area. By training locally they can receive excellent post-secondary education and keep their post-secondary costs down.”

The Springboard to Success Scholarships are made possible by the investment return of the over $110,000.00 of Millennium Fund endowed contributions held and managed by the Prince George Community Foundation.

I heard Martin say during the debate that the liberals were giving a lot of money out for this purpose. I just wonder who they gave it to?
