Prince George, B.C. - The trip to a volleyball tournament in Prince George proved to be a real adventure for students from Charlie Lake.

Three teams of players ranging from grades 8 to 10 , and three coaches were on a bus bound for Prince George yesterday when the bus went off the road.

The bus left Highway 97 about 2km north of the Mackenzie junction and travelled another 300 metres before coming to a stop.

Although some of the students were a little shaken up, no one suffered any physical injuries. They waited about 5 hours for a second bus to come and take them to their destination.

The road conditions following a heavy snowfall were a factor in this incident.

Thank Goodness no one was hurt!! Scarey time of the year for sports...
id sue the school board
corruption. you're and idiot!!! These kids were going on an exciting road trip and thankful they got to complete it in good health.
Thanks to people that run around suing everyone when things don't go perfectly, fewer people are volunteering/offering to do things.
My question is WHY did they have to wait for 5 hours? And WHERE did they wait? Only 2km past the Junction so I assume at the restuarant, but isn't that the kind of detail the story should've included?
I think that the kids had a ride that they will remember for a long long time. One of the more exciting trips that they have made to P.G. I agree with above post . Why a 5 hour wait. The junction is only 1 1/2 to 2 hours from Prince depending on road conditions.
Just snap your fingers and a bus magically appears.

Did it come from PG, did it come from Charlie Lake? How long did it take to make contact? Did they have to wait for emergency vehicles to come? Who makes the decision on alternate transportation. Is the cost covered by the school board or was it a hired or volunteer unit?

Come on people, all this stuff takes time, the right steps have to be followed. Maybe they felt the bus was going to be able to travel, got pulled out and they found a mechanical problem?

As for where they waited? Chances are if the bus's engine still ran they sat right there and waited.
Stick to Spuds and Hockey songs Stompin Tom. That was a lot of words you used to give no real answers. Are you a politician by chance ? ;-)
Stompin Tom has a point. 1 1/2 hours in good conditions. Takes some time to get another driver and bus ready. Just a good thing they all made it in one piece.
Vikingnuck,

no, Im just somebody who realizes that things dont fall from the sky and solve your problems. There are to many naysayers here who are critical of every little thing in a story.

You try having a bus go into the ditch then try to arrange alternate transportation. They dont just fall off trees.

Since your so quick to criticize, where are your answers, oh I know, they should have had a 2nd empty bus follow in case there was a problem?
