If you're thinking of stoking up a fire to take the chill off this morning, think again...
The Ministry of Water, Land, and Air Protection has issued an air quality advisory due to a high level of fine particulates in Prince George.
The advisory means only those who use wood-burning appliances as their sole source of heat are allowed to burn while the ban is in place.
In addition, land clearing and backyard burning are also prohibited.
Ministry Meteorologist, Dennis Fudge, says, based on air quality data, the high levels appear to be mainly due to industrial and combustion sources with some contribution from road dust.
Fudge says an upper high-pressure ridge has developed over the city, trapping the fine particulate in the airshed.
The advisory is expected to remain in place for at least the next few days.
