Prince George, B.C. – Tomorrow, the new Cenotaph at City Hall will be at the centre of the Remembrance Day services in Prince George.
The new Cenotaph is part of the $847 thousand dollar remodelling of the front of City Hall, replacing the two pillars of river rock and bronze plaques that were showing signs of age.
The new Cenotaph was designed to be reminiscent of the Vimy Ridge Memorial.   (see photo  at right)
The dates of the two world wars and the Korean conflict are inscribed on the new monument as are the names of those who served and died during those battles.

Let me be the first to say alittle prayer for the fallen . Her it isI plagerized this prayer from "Korea Vet News";

A Soldiers Prayer

Found on the body of a Soldier, Killed in Action in Korea

Dear God, I have never spoken to you,
But now I want to say, How do You do
You see God, they told me you didnt exist
And like a fool I believed all this!

Last night from a shell hole, I saw your sky,
I figured right then they had told me a lie,
Had I taken time to see things you made,
Id have known they werent calling a spade a spade.

I wonder God, if youd shake my hand,
Somehow I feel that you would understand.
Funny I had to come to this hellish place
Before I had time to see your face.

Well, I guess there isnt much more to say,
But Im sure glad God I met you today.
I guess the Zero Hour will soon be here,
But Im not afraid since I know youre near.

The Signal! Well God Ill have to go
I like you lots, this I want you to know.
Look now, this will be a horrible fight,
Who knows, I may come to your house tonight.

Though I wasnt friendly to you before,
I wonder God, if youd wait at the door?
Look, Im crying; Me! Shedding tears!
I wish Id known you these many years.

Well, I have to go now God, goodbye;
Strange since I met you, Im not afraid to die!

This came into my possession on Remembrance Sunday, 2009, and because of my own small contribution to the Korean War, it will now always have a particular poignancy for me,

Terry Randall, RN
Seaman-Gunner - HMS Ceylon.
Cheers
Remembrance is important. Thanks for the prayer Randall!

Not sure the changes made to City Hall's front lawn was worth the money. I noticed the local youth are enjoying the added walks and stairs for skateboarding though. Money that could have been spent on curb side recycling or updating rec-centres.
Thanks Terry.

My dad said "There were no athiests in the trenches".
As a parent of one of the very first canadian soldiers in Afghanistan my
best wishes for you Terry and for all
of those who are still serving.
We will never forget none of them heroes!

Thank-you my 5 uncles whom I've never known. Thank-you my father and your brother, whom I've had the privledge to know. I pray that lives lost in war are not in vain or personal gain. LEST WE FORGET!
