An air quality advisory for the city of Prince George has been lifted, almost 48-hours after it went into effect.
The Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection says fine particulates were being trapped in the airshed by an upper high-pressure ridge weather system.
Meteorologist Dennis Fudge says that system has weakened somewhat over the past 24-hours and is expected to continue to do so, but he says high particulate levels may still occur this evening and overnight.
Advisories are put in place when the city's monitoring stations pick up fine particulate levels of 50. This morning, the 24-hour levels were 35 at the downtown monitoring station and 35 at the BCR site.
Based on the air quality data, the high levels earlier in the weekend appeared to be mainly due to industrial and combustion sources.
