Prince George,  B.C.- Only  up and running in Prince George  for a few months, but the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit is having an impact.

Earlier today,  the unit  showed off  the weapons they seized from a  Queens Crescent home in Prince George when they  executed a search warrant  on the property on  November 6th.   In  addition to illegal  firearms, they   seized hand grenades, explosives, ammunition,  and  a 70  plant marijuana grow op.

"This is a significant seizure, on a dangerous group operating in Prince George" says   Sgt. Raj Sidhu, of the CFSEU

A 28 year old male Prince George resident, previously unknown to police, was arrested and released on several Criminal Code weapons charges as well as Controlled Drugs and Substances Act charges.  First appearance is set for a date in 2010.

Since October 22, 2009, this warrant is the third executed on a small organized crime group operating in the Prince George area.  In all, 17 persons are facing various Criminal Code and Controlled Drug charges.

Sgt.  Sidhu  and Staff Sergeant Scott Lovell will be guests on the Meisner  program   tomorrow morning at   9:00  on 93.1 CFIS FM and here on Opinion 250 through live streaming audio.

GRENADES???? What was the plan there? This is out of control. My neighbourhood of College Heights as well. Hard to feel safe anywhere in PG these days. Kudos to the police for catching this. And bigger kudos to whom ever gave these guys up.
It's sickening to hear these misguided
unfortunate critters are getting their
hands on grenades. And very unfortunate
that most of these goofs will get bail.
Quite often they'll breach and be held
which is a good thing. Judges have a
tough job, and have to adhere to decisions from the B.C.Supreme and Appeal court as
well as Supreme Court of Canada to name a few. The best thing we can do is let our
MP's know we don't want these fools out
on the street once they're caught with
crap like this and perhaps slowly, things
will change as long as the MP's have the
cajones to push it.
''what's with the hand gernades. In Canada. Come on, when was the last time a hand gernade exploded out side of military practice in Canada.

What are the two faction going to do, start a war against each other. Well, mr RCMP, get JOE public out and let the bastards kill each other.

Give me back my country, a country where a hard working man succeeds and is respected. Get rid of these drug pushing parasites. Roll back that crap Trudeau gave us. Protecting the rights of the criminal, Bahhh humbug. let them swing.

So his first appearance is set for a date in 2010, bet he doesn't show. Also bet the judge will look shocked.
PG Driver, that's not fair, He said he would show up.
LOL promise to appears FTW
So this is not a hunter with an improperly registered long gun?
Why do these creeps get released to continue their mayhem and we the law abiding citizens pay for it with stupid laws, fines, and restrictions?
Drugs, guns, explosives, grenades etc, etc.
Why do they not be remanded in custody for a minimum amount of time due to the severity of the charges??? Give the cops a week or two to search more into his case, and give the public a little time with him off the streets.
You got it, dcfluid, I agree with all your points. The bust described in the news release is great news, but we all know that the perps will not be punished to the extent they should.
metalman.
When I first heard about the Solicitor General's Ministry creating a special unit in PG to combat organized crime I was skeptical, like I am about most government announcements. I've been pleasantly surprised at how much cleaning up the unit has been doing in the past couple of months. The RCMP are doing an awesome job of sending out the message that PG is not going to tolerate gang activity. Our laws could use some revamping and there is also a push on the Federal level for this. There will always be room for improvements but I am truly impressed with the progress being made so far. One step at a time.
Keep up the great work, RCMP.
these guys are going away for a long time.believe me anyone caught with that many guns will be serving 10 years..you dont believe me go ask a lawyer for yourself.
Something should be done about the crooks who deliberately destroyed Eurocan:

i would be willing to bet they WONT do 10 years or anything even close.
On the topic of scumbags not receiving appropriate punishment for their crimes, I heard on the news this morning that the scumbags who fired forty rounds at each other on third avenue in 2008 are getting off scott free. On one of those points of law that defense lawyers so like to exploit, the prosecution felt that the sole witness who was willing to testify could possibly be judged as non credible. I am sure this is a case of the prosecution cutting their losses, as the defense attorney would likely destroy their case by calling into question the credibility of the witness. I would imagine that the scumbags are able to afford the services of a top mouthpiece with all their ill gotten gains. Why anny self respecting lawyer would want to associate with scummy vermin, and accept their dirty money is beyond me. I guess it comes down to simple GREED. Where would the scumbag drug dealers be without greedy lawyers? Why, in jail of course.
meatalman.
I have a registered firearm that I use for hunting, I have since allowed my PAL (possestion and aquisition liscense) to expire. About 2 months after it had expired I recieved a letter from the RCMP stating that I was now a criminal and could be charged and have my firearm siezed whenever they wanted. I would bet as a law abiding citizen, other than my PAL, and taxpayer that I would not get released on a promise to appear. What a joke our system has become.
^^^ why not just go get a new license?
and believe me millworker if you dont have any failure to appears on your record they pretty much give anyone a PTA for there 1st offence.
