Just doing some late night surfing!

If you go to gasbuddy.com, I noticed our gas is some of the highest price in BC!
So that stop light at Domano is very frustrating. It is always red for East bound traffic coming down the hill... so that a turn lane (west bound onto Domano) with no cars using it can get the automatic default green. So, get the brakes all hot stopping for a light at night that has nobody within a mile of it... and then run the jake brake down the rest of Peden hill so as not to get the brakes any hotter than they are from an unnecessary stop?

The planning priority for the lights on the highway is ridiculous IMO. Ditto for 97&16 at night, 20th and the 'bipass' all the time ect ect ect.... Wish they could find a way to make it more smart in the programing of the lights. All the stop and go wear and tear, extra fuel used, inconvenience, and noise created for the neighborhood are all unnecessary byproducts of lack-a-luster efforts in regards to stop light programming on the highway IMO.
The lights at 5th and the bipass are very efficient... why can't the others be programmed better to that kind of standard when they all have the same hardware? It makes no sense other than a lack-a-luster effort on the part of the highways department and their contractors, and so it doesn't seem to be a priority for them at all....

Thats my grief for the day :)
We have a refinery here that's why gas costs more. Quesnel 99.9 Williams Lake 97.9, Kamloops 99.9. Pr Geo just doesn't want to break that $1.00 mark.

How come the weather and the temperature hasn't changed on this site for days? Always 1 and snow.

What's with the 8 foot wall around the old Kal Tire building on 22nd? Sure is ugly. I wonder if they have a moat aorund the place too? I thought there was a bylaw regulating fence height fronting the road, like 4 feet?
The traffic lights downtown on Victoria st. are rediculous also, no cars around and you are the only one there to cross. Can't trip the lights at all. What a waste of time and gas.
If there are no cars around for miles......why sit at the red light? Try stopping, looking BOTH ways and carry on your merry little way.

Don't think you'll go to jail for that AND you can help the environment by not idling for no good reason.
Anybody heard yet what's going on in the downtown core? That one realtor is still approaching store owners asking them to sell.

I've heard a few rumors and was wondering if there is any weight to them at all. So here's what I've heard, you tell me if you know anythng about them.

-The PG Hotel has been sold (apparently bought by the Ramada)

-The nightclub behind the PG Hotel has been sold also (it used to be called "The Month")

-The new performing arts center will be located on the current site of the Keg

Yep, they're only rumors... but... have you heard anything?

Have a great day because anything less would NOT be great!
Oops... that nightclub behind the PG Hotel used to be called "The Monk"...

*need another coffee or more sleep*
How is it that our CONVICT,No good Campbell. Can get across the border, doubl standards for the politicians.I'm appalled he's even in office.Libtard liars...and OOOh these olympics, how many bus loads of homeless are going to be sent here!!
Vancouver is going to get one hell of a black eye when all is said and done..
-The PG Hotel has been sold (apparently bought by the Ramada)TRUE... CLOSING EARLY JANUARY

-The nightclub behind the PG Hotel has been sold also (it used to be called "The Month")RUMOURED

-The new performing arts center will be located on the current site of the Keg RUMOURED... HOWVER THE CITY HAS APPARENTLY PURCHED THE LAND THE KEG, NORGATE AND DELORMES SIT ON.

DONT FORGET THE RUMOURED REOPENING OF THE CADILLAC RANCH
oops... should say PURCHASED above....
"How is it that our CONVICT,No good Campbell. Can get across the border, doubl standards for the politicians."

Seriously? Campbell pleaded 'No Contest" and paid a fine or something. He does not have a criminal record.

I agree with the comments about the Domano intersection. To the powers that be: Can we fix the lights there? I agree that we could save a lot of idling and wear and tear on vehicles if many intesections in this town were programmed correctly.
I doubt the preforming arts center will make it past a referendum in the current economic climate
We've all heard that the city has bought the old Norgate land. Can anyone at city hall please tell us WHY? Unless you councillors forgot, it's our money that you are spending. How about some answers? Ben.. maybee you can get it out them. That land would make a better police station...Parkade already built right across the street. Might save us a few Mil.
eagleone, absolutley right about the lights.when i took my clas one test ( many years ago ),i was told to anticipate the lights when approaching them.that is virtually impossible to do in prince george.i put a comment on here a few years back about it.it seems like some jerk likes to play with the timing of the lights.SET THEM UP AND LEAVE THEM ALONE,
then we will all be able to anticipate
them and aproach the intersections in a proper manner.
Sure would be nice if a list of Guest or Topics be posted for the week on this site for the MEISNER show.I think more people would tune in if they know who was on or what you/we were going to talk about.
Could be posted next to the microphone.
Did anyone read the story about the OSPCA raiding the toronto humane society and leading the staff (including a vet) out in handcuffs? How safe does that make all you pet owners out there. It will be interesting to see if the humane society has the funds to put up a decent legal fight or if it will just be destroyed like most other folk who draw the ire of the SPCA...
ALLLLSOOOO... Does no one want to rant a little about the evidence leaked in the CRU scandal? I think it deserves some comment, regardless of which side you are on. The leaked emails have been confirmed by those involved to be genuine. They strongly implicate leading global warming scientists in collusion to suppress evidence disputing global warming, to manipulate their data to ensure it shows their preferred result...They even go as far as to admit that the models used to whip us all into an apocalyptic frenzy are failing to predict, well anything (and by inference are therefor worthless).
Surely thosse of us with open minds, or who are already very skeptical about the upcoming Copenhagen Coup ought o be making a bit of a fuss. And those of you believers, who are not yet at the point of religious fervor might want to look at what has been revealed.
ORRRRR if politics is your bread and butter, how about the fact that the CRU leaked information was not covered by the CBC until the scientists involved finally put out their position (that theres nothing to see here, just keep trusting us ok?. They covered that, of course, with as little detail of the allegations of fraud and even criminal activity (destroying information subject to a freedom of information request) as possible.
Please, someone rant about this other than me. Trust me, if we sign onto Copenhagen there will be more to complain about that traffic lights and pot holes.
Check out the price of concert tickets at the CN Centre. For example Jesus Christ Superstar tickets best available are $65.00 each. Then for the fine print. Facilities charge $1.00 extra per ticket and $11.00 convenience charge per ticket. Real curious what a convenience charge relates to.
The extra $12.00 over the original price of the ticket amount to an 18% increase in cost. Ticket Master had there hands slapped in Ontario and maybe it is time for a little investigation of their practices here in BC.
I need to rant about our city hall's shortcomings. Especially the last council before this one. It is my understanding that Eastside Mario's wanted to build a larger restaurant. The city wouldn't let them. Same with the renovated Husky station out at the BC Rail, er CN Rail site. The city wouldn't let them enlarge their cafe. They are now building a new cancer related building on a little park between the hospital and the Phoenix medical centre. Sure bet that they are the same planners at city hall who decided to build a welfare office at 5th and Carney with no parking. Apparently these guys think PG is a bus town. It ain't and never will be. Another thing, If I owned the lab at the Phoenix building and had people daily lined up out the door and back in again, I would surely think about getting a larger establishment. Not enough room in this town, I guess. One last thing. Put yerself in the shoes of the owners of Fabricland, recently departed from the strip mall on Westwood. You need parking, square footage, and zoning to open a new store. Where would you put the new Fabricland? Don't say downtown. It is too creepy fer women down there now. Again, where would you put it? Build a free standing building in College Heights? Too costly. Up the Hart? "The centre of everything?" Sad little gritty mill town when it comes to planning. Unless smaller is better.
"They strongly implicate leading global warming scientists in collusion to suppress evidence disputing global warming, to manipulate their data to ensure it shows their preferred result..."

Uhh yea. This isnt a surprise. Scientists, policians, bloggers and in fact the entire human race tends to embrace data that supports their opinion and ignore that to the contrary. Doesnt really mean anything, except people are desperate for scandal and will try to make a scandal out of anything.

Im not a scientist. I, like most everyone else, dont have time to acquire enough knowledge to draw my own independent conclusion. What I do know is that balance is a big part of nature. To much fishing creates imbalance. To much hunting creates inbalance. To much human waste creates imbalance. How can anyone suggest that releasing billions of tons of carbon dioxide into the aptmosphere isnt going to create imbalance?

Its just like smoking. They have never PROVEN in a study that smoking causes cancer, but eventually we all got smart enough to basically except it considering the huge amount of strong circumstantial evidence. Global warming will play out the same way. But like smoking a huge amount of damage will already be done.
Actually I AM a scientist, by training anyway and i can tell you the following: While politicians, bloggers and yes, some scientists embrace data that supports their position and ignores evidence to the contrary, it is NOT part of the scientific process. To find out that scientists may be willfully doing so IS a major scandal, especially when billions of dollars and important issues of sovereignty and world politics are being based on the 'settled' science. Sure, it may not be important as a small province premier with a driving conviction, but hey, maybe a little debate on the driving force in current world politics might just be in order before the consequences bite us in the ass, one way or another.
You might not have the time to become a scientist but you do have the time to keep yourself a little better informed, rather than relying on folksy 'common sense'. Tell me, had no scientists told you the world was warming due to carbon dioxide would you have figured it out ourself, using the unified 'balance of nature' theory?
Your comparison between global warming and cancer research also illustrates your statement that you are not a scientist and also not up to speed on the differences between the two issues. But thats the problem isnt it? First we decide to leave the question of global warming up to the scientists, then we dont care when we find evidence that the scientists might be taking us for a ride.
Domano and tyner solution: overpass and cloverleaf

Fifth and central/bypass: overpass and cloverleaf

Fifteenth and centrl/bypass: overpass and cloverleaf

No lights to time! No jake required, no hot brakes, no traffic jams at that congestion point.

I am sure between the 9.5 million pus the 10 million (guesstimate)for the original work on the domano /tyner intersection would have been more than adequate to construct a proper approach and departure setup with an overpass at that location and would not have impeded traffic.

But then that would have been the smart common sense approach to plan for full capacity and future growth.

Silly city council!
My rant of the week...

Prince Charles and Camilla visit our fair country and it costs us Canadian tax payers 2.57 million for their 11 day stay? Borrowing from Saturday Night Live...

Seriously? Really? 2.57 million for a jolly ol' good time in Canada? Seriously? Mommy the Queen, the richest woman on the planet couldn't pony up for your holiday? Really?
"First we decide to leave the question of global warming up to the scientists, then we dont care when we find evidence that the scientists might be taking us for a ride."

I am a scientist, now retired but still active, in a discipline completely unrelated to climatic matters. I have never seen any evidence that climatic oriented scientists are taking us for a ride. I have seen claims to that effect, mostly from non-scientists, but claims with no support do not follow the scientific method.

Climatologists, geologists, biologists and many other scientists in othr relevant disciplines are virtually unanimous in agreeing that global warming is taking place. What differences do exist are in the area of why that is so, with the majority convinced that it is due to human activity, and a small minority postulating that it is part of the natural variation in activity from the sun. However, both of those viewpoints accept that global warming IS taking place and that it is real.
Why are there so many decorated and lit up christmas trees already? Are so many of you really such slaves to the retail bonanza that is "Christmas" ( You are all brainwashed )that you have to start celebrating before flippin' December even?
And to those who put up the Xmas decorations BEFORE Remembrance Day, shame on you.
From the above posts; The timing of the street lights in this town is really poorly done.
Ticketmaster, being the only game in town, is of course GOUGING us on the price of tickets.
The anti development league ( Prince George City Hall ) stands in the way of a lot of sensible development, unless you are part of the 'in' crowd ( casinos, wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more )
So much more to say, so little time.
Good day, and have a fun and safe week end.
metalman.
Metalman, it's too bad that Christmas is all about the 'retail bonanza' to you. It means different things to different people and is generally a good time of year... but that's just my perspective.

I didn't see any Christmas decorations before Rememberance Day, I think I started seeing things come out the last week of Novemeber. I would think that people who put up their Christmas stuff that early are in the vast minority.
I seem to remember a couple of the big-box stores that had x-mas stuff/displays up at the same time as their Halloween stuff in early October. I agree that x-mas is losing its true meaning. It is now more about how much you spend. I'm always truly amazed at how many things I need according to all of the commercials/ads that I see. If I don't get a so-and-so-thinga-magiggy I'm a nobody. Then on top of that, you get all the people/groups complaining that we have to be politically correct and that saying Merry Christmas is not right!

So, an early Merry X-mas to everyone, I have to go shopping!
IMHO christmas is an over-rated farce.
Gee, for once I actually agree with you EBSL
lol.
Bah! Humbug! To all of you too! :)
Here is a controversial little link...Food for thought. :)

ammonra go to these websites as they have got some of the berst information on climategate. climateaudit.org wattsupwiththat.com icecap.us I think you have a whole lot of catching up to do.

The climate research unit, CRU, of the University of East Anglia is the main source of present and historical temperatures of the world. The research scientists use CRU information for the basic data used in their research. The CRU is also the main source of information the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change uses to promote their global warming mantra.

It is the CRU that has been found guilty of artificialy increasing historic temperatures to promote so called man caused global warming.

Co2 accounts for only .038% of the gases in the atmosphere. Of that .038% mans contrubution is .
Hit post comment by mistake, was not finished yet.

Co2 accounts for only .038% of the gases in the atmosphere. Of that .038% mans contrubution is .0001%

Another way to put it is of the natural production of Co2, mans contribution is only 3%.

Al Gore has made over 200 million promoting this scam. Thousands of scientists are making good coin off this scam.

I say again most basic information that scientists use in their research on so called man caused global warming originates from the CRU and their information has been found to be corrupted. If the Copenhagan Treaty is passed the U.N. will be controlling your life. Do you want that?

The skeptics ....

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Climate_change_skeptic

Posted on that site is the following interesting point in how much the skeptics believe in their own skepticism.
----------------

In November 2004, climate change skeptic Richard Lindzen was quoted saying he'd be willing to bet that the earth's climate will be cooler in 20 years than it is today.

When British climate researcher James Annan contacted him, however, Lindzen would only agree to take the bet if Annan offered a 50-to-1 payout.

Subsequent offers of a wager were also refused by Pat Michaels, Chip Knappenberger, Piers Corbyn, Myron Ebell, Zbigniew Jaworowski, Sherwood Idso and William Kininmonth.

At long last, however, Annan has persuaded Russian solar physicists Galina Mashnich and Vladimir Bashkirtsev to take a $10,000 bet. "There isn't much money in climate science and I'm still looking for that gold watch at retirement," Annan says. "A pay-off would be a nice top-up to my pension."
----------------------------

When asked to risk money on whether your prediction is going to come true, and you refuse to do so, I think it says a lot about how stronly one believes in their own rant ........
